Staff Nurse - RN - Psychiatric Unit jobs in Anchorage, AK
Staff Nurse - RN - Psychiatric Unit provides professional nursing care to assigned patients with varying levels of mental health disorders and/or intellectual and developmental disabilities, including outpatients and psychiatric inpatients. Works as part of an interdisciplinary medical team to evaluate patients and develop treatment plans. Being a Staff Nurse - RN - Psychiatric Unit administers medications, monitors patient progress, and records observations in patient medical records. Promotes patients' independence by teaching patients and families to understand conditions, medications, and self-care skills. Additionally, Staff Nurse - RN - Psychiatric Unit may supervise lower-level nurses. Typically requires a bachelor's degree in nursing. Typically reports to a manager or head of a unit/department. Staff Nurse - RN - Psychiatric Unit's years of experience requirement may be unspecified. Certification and/or licensing in the position's specialty is the main requirement. Location: Alaska
Position: RN Stepdown
Responsibilities:
- Checking patients' health status daily and making note of any changes or concerns
- Caring for multiple patients throughout the same shift, often varying in age and condition
- Monitoring patients with life-saving medical equipment such as IVs, catheters, feeding tubes and ventilators
- Responding to "code blue " alerts and other urgent situations
- Providing a comfortable and secure environment for the patient while acting as their advocate
Certifications - Required
AHA BLS - Basic Life Support Certificate
Education - Required
Graduate of accredited Nursing program
Experience - Required
1 - 2 year Acute Care Experience and/or experience congruent with role in service line
Licenses - Required
