Reviews patient histories, administers medications, and performs dialysis treatments. Being a Staff Nurse - RN - Renal Dialysis ensures dialysis machine and all products used during a treatment are properly prepared and meet quality standards. Monitors the patient during dialysis, records observations in patient medical records, and reports any changes in condition to the physician as needed. Additionally, Staff Nurse - RN - Renal Dialysis supervises technicians or nursing aides that perform monitoring or patient care tasks during a treatment. Provides nutritional education to ESRD patients. Tactfully communicates and educates patients and visitors in a positive, informative manner. Communicates appropriately with patients of various ages. Conducts in-service training in areas of diet therapy and patient care as needed. Completes nutritional assessment on all required patients and places it in medical record in a timely manner. Demonstrates the ability to assess and interpret data relative to patient’s age. Demonstrates the ability to adapt technique/treatment to age of patients served. Assesses nutritional status of chronic dialysis patients throughout all stages of the life cycles. Screens patients for nutritional problems, as appropriate for patient’s age, and disease process.
