Reviews patient histories, administers medications, and performs dialysis treatments. Being a Staff Nurse - RN - Renal Dialysis ensures dialysis machine and all products used during a treatment are properly prepared and meet quality standards. Monitors the patient during dialysis, records observations in patient medical records, and reports any changes in condition to the physician as needed. Additionally, Staff Nurse - RN - Renal Dialysis supervises technicians or nursing aides that perform monitoring or patient care tasks during a treatment. Typically requires a bachelor's degree in nursing or equivalent. Requires a Registered Nurse (RN) license. Typically reports to a manager or head of a unit/department. Position summary:
The Registered Nurse is responsible and accountable for providing optimal care and services to patients with end-stage renal disease, who are dependent upon chronic dialysis therapy for life. As a primary care nurse, the RN is accountable for providing total, comprehensive, continuous patient-centered care for his or her own caseload of patients. To provide opportunities for the patient to participate in his or her own care whenever possible. To formulate a comprehensive care plan for the patient based on nursing assessment. Must be able to give direction, observe the nursing process of other team members, and assume a resource and clinical role. Must be able to problem solve with little assistance and handle stressful situations calmly.
