Staff Nurse - RN - Surgical First Assistant provides direct patient care to surgical patients throughout the perioperative period. Assists surgeon during surgical procedures by positioning skin preparation, providing wound exposure, performing tissue dissection, suturing, and other surgical tasks. Being a Staff Nurse - RN - Surgical First Assistant administers medications and IV treatments as necessary. Participates in discharge planning and counsels patients and caregivers on appropriate post-operative care. Additionally, Staff Nurse - RN - Surgical First Assistant requires a bachelor's degree. Requires Certified Nurse Operating Room (CNOR). Requires Registered Nurse First Assistant (CRNFA). Requires Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS). Typically reports to a manager or head of a unit/department. Staff Nurse - RN - Surgical First Assistant's years of experience requirement may be unspecified. Surgical Technician First Assistant Surgery General MSLA at St. Patrick Hospital-Broadway Bldg. -Missoula, Montana
Certified Surgical First Assistants provide aid in exposure, hemostasis, closure, and other intraoperative technical functions that help the surgeon carry out a safe operation with optimal results for the patient. In addition to intraoperative duties, the surgical assistant also performs preoperative and postoperative duties to better facilitate proper patient care. The surgical assistant performs these functions during the operation under the direction and supervision of the surgeon and in accordance with hospital policy and appropriate laws and regulations.
Shift: Average 36 hours per week, Day shift, Full-time position.
