Staff Nurse - RN - Surgical First Assistant jobs in Scranton, PA

The Endoscopy Center at Gateway, a Covenant Physician Partner, is looking for a PRN Registered Nurse to join our busy team located in Edwardsville, PA.

Please note the pay range for this position is $33-$36/hr.

About the Opportunity

Under general direction from the ASC Manager, the Registered Nurse (RN) will provide professional nursing care through assessment, planning, treatment, and evaluation of the patient. The RN is responsible for delivering safe. knowledgeable, compassionate, and individualized nursing care to patients and their families.

• Verifies that essential equipment is functioning properly each day.
• Performs patient preparation, including but not limited to: review of medical history, acquisition of appropriate consents, measuring vital signs, starting IV, administering medications, and setting up appropriate monitors. Assists in relieving patient’s apprehension before and during administration of IV sedation or anesthesia.
• Assesses and monitors patients before, after and throughout all phases of care, demonstrating competency with all monitoring equipment.
• Records and documents all vital signs and assembles and maintains all related patient records.
• Addresses individual patient needs, and completes all pre and post-op physician orders.
• Provides verbal and written discharge criteria.
• Assists with post-procedure telephone interviews.

About the Candidate

Minimum Requirements:

• One (1) year clinical experience in surgery or procedure healthcare including demonstrated knowledge of sterile technique, working with anesthetized patients, and other clinical situations found in a surgical or procedural setting.
• Registered Nurse with an unencumbered license in the state of Pennsylvania
• Graduate from an accredited diploma, ADN, or BSN program
• Current ACLS and BLS certifications, or the ability to obtain them upon hire

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience in surgery, ICU, or other critical care / acute care setting is strongly preferred
