Performs preventative maintenance and documents completed procedures. Additionally, Stationary Engineer requires a high school diploma. Requires applicable Stationary Engineer's license for the state. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager. The Stationary Engineer works under moderate supervision. The Stationary Diesel Engine Operator/Mechanic Operates, maintains, and overhauls stationary diesel engines, large pumps and ancillary machinery and equipment at a pumping station. Perform preventative maintenance of diesel engines, main pumps, generators, compressors, raw water intakes, and trash rakes. Detect, diagnose, repair and report machinery and equipment malfunctions. Utilize basic mathematical skills and read drawings to understand piping system and machinery layout. Maintain a history of machinery equipment and water conditions. Other duties as assigned.
This position is subject to random mandatory drug and alcohol testing.
Work Hours: Monday through Thursday, 6:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Due to the District's response role and in the total scope of emergency management, this position may at times, be required to provide support before, during and after major storm events and emergency situations, such as hurricanes or other declared emergencies, depending on assigned emergency response role.
Work activities typically involve the following:
Regularly sets up, adjusts, controls, tests, and operates equipment to complete assignments. The work environment may be hot and humid with no facilities. Moves or otherwise transports equipment weighing up to 50 pounds or more. Basic water skills and ability to swim. Drive/operate equipment. Exposure to gases and/or fumes (paint, welding, oil, grease, adhesive, chemical, herbicide, motor solvent, monoxide, dust). Repetitive bending, Segmental vibration, Walking, rough terrain, Confined areas, Noise exposure.
