Midwest Press & Automation LLC is a fast paced, rapidly growing, company servicing the metal forming industry.   We have a large customer base, high workflow and yet we maintain the culture and flexibility of a small company.

Position Responsibilities:

• Reverse engineering - create prints using information gathered from existing components. This information will be used to document conditions, develop a scope of work, and guide component repair through the shop processes.
• Design and engineer utilizing industry standard and an understanding of build and repair procedures
• Estimate time and material cost as required to perform the scope of work
• Repairing and modifying metal forming presses, components, and related equipment
• Develop timelines and work with MPA department leads to maintain those timelines
• Project communication with customers, vendors, and MPA employees
• Will work in between both a shop “hands on” and office environment
• Will travel occasionally as needed for site visits, typically only day trips

Education, Skill & Experience Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering/mechanical engineering technology OR at least 7 years’ relevant work experience in machine repair/mechanical design
• Special consideration and training may be provided to the appropriate candidate with considerable experience in the specialized field of press repair
• Knowledge/experience in CAD 3D modeling software, MPA uses AutoCAD products (Inventor, Fusion etc.) Microsoft Word & Excel
• Must be able to understand, read and create mechanical drawings
• Must be able to accurately use precision measuring and inspection equipment

Additional Desired Skills:  (not requirements)

• Ability to conduct FEA’s
• Knowledge & experience in welding and related metallurgy
• Hands on experience in mechanical assembly and/or machining

• Very competitive compensation – this is a salaried position with compensation for (voluntary) overtime after 9 hours. Typical workday is 10 hours which includes a 1-hour unpaid lunch.
