Being a Stationary Engineer conducts monitoring and failure analysis of meters, gauges and controls to determine the need for repair or replacement of parts. Performs preventative maintenance and documents completed procedures. Additionally, Stationary Engineer requires a high school diploma. Requires applicable Stationary Engineer's license for the state. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager. The Stationary Engineer works under moderate supervision. Experience and qualifications for success
• B.S. in Civil Engineering
• 4-6 years of civil engineering experience and licensed
• Strong written communication skills required for writing in a technical format
• In collaboration with staff engineers, must be able to design general engineering solutions
• Must be detailed and quality-oriented
• Must be able to handle multiple projects concurrently and maintain flexibility to changes in work assignments as changes occur in project
• Experience with AutoCAD (Civil 3D)
• Experience with full Microsoft Office Suite
• Critical thinking and problem-solving skills
Duties and Responsibilities:
• Perform assignments designed to develop professional knowledge and abilities of standard engineering techniques and procedures
• Assist in the preparation of plans, specifications, supporting documents, and permit applications and verify that they are complete, accurate and in accordance with best engineering practices
• Assist in the preparation of calculations for cost estimates and other supporting documentation for a variety of engineering projects
• Establish and maintain effective working relationships and work in a team environment
• Work within a team to respond to comments and meet project deadlines
