Stationary Engineer operates, repairs, and maintains stationary equipment including boilers, generators, refrigeration, and turbines in buildings, plants or industrial facilities. Ensures that equipment is operating safely and within established limits. Being a Stationary Engineer conducts monitoring and failure analysis of meters, gauges and controls to determine the need for repair or replacement of parts. Performs preventative maintenance and documents completed procedures. Additionally, Stationary Engineer requires a high school diploma. Requires applicable Stationary Engineer's license for the state. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager. The Stationary Engineer works under moderate supervision. Works under the supervision of Director, Plant Operations and/or Assistant Chief Engineer. The Engineer as directed, shall observe, adjust, record, repair, inspect, install and maintain equipment. Performs other duties as assigned.
Education: Work requires knowledge generally acquired through a high school education or GED.
Licensure: Valid California Driver’s License.
Experience: Three (3) to four (4) years experience in related field.
Essential Technical/Motor Skills: Ability to correctly and safely use all tools needed to perform the job tasks. Finger dexterity and eye/hand coordination to repair equipment and use tools.
Interpersonal Skills: Ability to communicate and interact with fellow employees in a productive manner.

Essential Mental Abilities: Ability to read, write and understand English. Analytical abilities sufficient for determining proper sequence and needs.

Performance Improvement: Assumes active role in the department’s Continuous Performance Improvement Program. Develops, implements and assesses Continuous Performance Improvement efforts as assigned.
The hourly rate for this position is $66.44. The range displayed on this job posting reflects the target for new hire salaries for this position.
