Stationary Engineer jobs in Washington, DC

Stationary Engineer operates, repairs, and maintains stationary equipment including boilers, generators, refrigeration, and turbines in buildings, plants or industrial facilities. Ensures that equipment is operating safely and within established limits. Being a Stationary Engineer conducts monitoring and failure analysis of meters, gauges and controls to determine the need for repair or replacement of parts. Performs preventative maintenance and documents completed procedures. Additionally, Stationary Engineer requires a high school diploma. Requires applicable Stationary Engineer's license for the state. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager. The Stationary Engineer works under moderate supervision. Gaining or has attained full proficiency in a specific area of discipline. To be a Stationary Engineer typically requires 1-3 years of related experience. (Copyright 2024 Salary.com)

    Position Summary:

    • The Stationary Engineer operates and maintains stationary engines and mechanical equipment such as central plant refrigeration, steam boilers, air condition systems, equipment and allied facilities.
    • Must be able to read mechanical and electrical drawings.
    • Must have a good working knowledge of HVAC systems.
    • Requires ability to operate specialized equipment: i.e., boiler, chiller, handtools.

    Shift:

    Full-time, 40 hours per week

    Rotating shift

    Weekend Work Required

    Location: Suburban Hospital,

    Education/ Experience

    • High school diploma or equivalency required, or Trade School Equivalent
    • One (1) year exprerience in preventative maintenance preferred; experience in a hospital a plus
