The Senior Electrical Engineer is responsible for producing workable solutions to engineering, production problems and electrical related break downs and solving these issues rapidly with minimum operational interference. The incumbent communicates continually with all levels of personnel from operations to maintenance, planning, production supervisors, human resources, EHS department, as well as technical supervisors and other engineering personnel. Externally this individual will be responsible for communicating with vendors, contractors, and suppliers. This individual also supports the day-to-day operations as a resource to the team utilizing their electrical and engineering skills to keep the shop running.
Responsibilities included but are not limited to:
Providing engineering and consultation services in terms of diagnosis and solutions to difficult operating and maintenance problems including performing root cause analysis with the goal of increasing OEE.
Providing electrical engineering support for systems and equipment.
Writing and or approving engineering specifications. Designs, spare parts list, ordering parts needed along with stocking and tracking inventory levels.
Developing, recommending, and implementing migration paths for obsolete controls and components.
Providing compliance oversight and directing planned electrical maintenance activities for plant power distribution systems.
Running electrical high and low voltage PM program weekly, monthly, quarterly, yearly.
Performing, planning, scheduling, coordinating, and directing installation of new or existing components on all projects, including project status reports as required.
Developing, preparing, and executing on capital improvement ideas and projects from their beginning through completion.
Provides guidance/mentoring, tracks and supervises, all tasks assigned to the electrical technicians.
Single point of accountability for plantwide electrical safety.
Basic Qualifications
A Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or Electrical Engineering Technology.
Minimum five (5) years of experience as an electrical engineer in a manufacturing environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with Allen Bradley and Siemens PLC's, and drives.
Experience managing and executing capital projects.
Previous experience with combustible metals and melting operations.
Previous experience with power distribution systems up to 138 kv.
Knowledge of HV breaker operation and maintenance such as; GE AM13.8, and GE AM2.4
Knowledge of LV breaker operation and maintenance such as; GE AK-2, and GE AKR, AC and DC breakers.
Knowledge of operation and maintenance of ABB FS-6 HV gas breakers.
Experience with power transformer testing, Doble, TTR, Meg testing, etc.
Experience with operation and maintenance of high power rectifiers used in arc melting.
Previous supervisory or lead experience.
AutoCAD.
Knowledge of NEC, NFPA 70E and NFPA 79.
