Being a Statistician works closely with other organizational groups to understand data and provide relevant, informative insights. Presents technical reports and findings to those groups. Additionally, Statistician uses knowledge of scripting and programming languages to clean, process, and analyze large data sets. Requires a bachelor's degree in area of specialty. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager. The Statistician work is closely managed. Works on projects/matters of limited complexity in a support role.     Position Summary

    Applies intermediate statistical and technical skills in the design of research studies. Collects, compiles, and analyzes statistical data. Performs complex statistical analyses for a broad spectrum of data and studies. Evaluates research studies and recommend statistical procedures. Develops and maintains specialized databases. May serve as a consultant in the department or division. Assists with development of grant applications, presentation of results, and scientific papers for publication


    Key Duties & Responsibilities

    Responsibility 1: Performs statistical programming, data analysis, reviews databases, handles quality assurance, provides program verification, and supports verification of statistical results. Perform and use of mostly advanced methods. Able to help create appropriate study databases.


    Responsibility 2: Interpretation of statistical results and ability to convey results to investigator. Able to perform biostatistics job function with minimum supervision help collaborators and meeting with collaborators independently. Write a statistical section for the journal manuscripts.


    Responsibility 3: Meets deadlines and has excellent time management skills. Evaluates research studies and recommends statistical procedures. Mentor statistician I.

    Perform other duties as assigned


    Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Work Characteristics

    • Demonstrated proficiency in SAS, R and other standard software.
    • Collaborative research experience in a biomedical research environment. Experience in research study design and assessing appropriate statistical methods.
    • Ability to work with minimal instructions.
    • Experience in interpretation of statistical results and ability to convey results to investigator.

    Salary range: $60,835 - $98,855


    Qualifications

    Education:

    • Master's degree in Math or a related field
    • And three (3) years of related experience required.
    • Work experience may NOT substitute for education requirement
