Being a Sterile Supply Attendant prepares supplies and equipment for use during patient procedures. Operates autoclaves and other equipment to sterilize instruments and equipment. Additionally, Sterile Supply Attendant inspects and assembles instruments, equipment, trays, and packs. Requires a high school diploma or its equivalent. Typically reports to a supervisor. The Sterile Supply Attendant possesses a moderate understanding of general aspects of the job. Works under the close direction of senior personnel in the functional area.     Minimum Qualifications GS-07: One year of specialized experience which includes providing supply operations support pertaining to specialized or unique supplies and/or equipment; managing a variety of expendable and non-expendable items and/or materials; conducting inventories; and performing property book maintenance. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-06).

    Education: One full year of graduate level education in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position. (Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.)

    Superior Academic Achievement. In order to be creditable under this provision, Superior Academic Achievement must have been gained in a curriculum that is qualifying for the position to be filled, such as that identified in Education above. Superior Academic Achievement is based on:(1) Class Standing - Applicants must be in the upper third of the graduating class in the college, university, or major subdivision, such as the College of Liberal Arts or the School of Business Administration, based on completed courses;

    Education: A half year (i.e., 9 semester hours) of graduate level education in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position. (Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.)

    Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%.     Minimum Qualifications GS-05: One year of specialized experiencewhich includes purchasing supplies, materials, equipment, and/or parts; requesting and/or purchasing repair services; and answering inquiries regarding the status of requisitions, delivery of material, and/or other questions received from customers, storage depots, or other organizations. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-04).

    Education: Four years of education above the high school level obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university. (Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.)
