    Overview

    The Assistant Managers of Parking Operations support the Manager of Parking Operations in ensuring guests and Parking employees alike have a safe and positive experience while on the property. In the absence of the Manager of Parking Operations, the Assistant Managers assume the role as the heads of the department and oversee staff in the performance of their assigned duties.

    The ideal candidate has a background in parking operations and/or event planning/management and has strong written and verbal communication skills. This individual is comfortable directing the work of others and sets an example for their team by being a multi-tasker who can manage various tasks and customers at one time while maintaining a calm, positive, and professional demeanor.

    Reports to: Manager of Parking Operations

    Duties & Responsibilities

    • Supervises Parking Operations staff throughout show activity to ensure proper layout and timely completion of all tasks. Provides hands-on assistance as necessary.
    • Works with the rest of the Parking Operations Management team to create a work environment in which people are enabled to perform to the best of their abilities. Informs Manager of Parking Operations and Director of Human Relations of any situations requiring a performance improvement plan or other disciplinary action.
    • Assists in the hiring, training, and scheduling of Parking Staff.
    • Interprets company policies and protocols to employees. Enforces policies and safety regulations.
    • Attends Complex Events/Operations meetings with the Manager of Parking Operations. Assists Manager in creating plans that align with show needs. Ensures proper set up for all events by using cones, delineators, marquees, traffic signs, barricades, and other necessary equipment.
    • Works with Staff, Flaggers, and Traffic Police to ensure proper flow of traffic during events.
    • During shows, regularly circulates among staff to ensure all employees are set up for success and receiving support as needed. Completes all opening and closing duties, including check in/check out and reconciliations. Works as Parking Attendant/Cashier/Traffic Flagger as needed.
    • Maintains all parking lots in pristine condition and repairs related equipment as needed. Maintains all signage.
    • Maintains inventory of critical supplies including ticket rolls, flagging tape, flags, parking vests, flashlights, batteries, lumber, and barrier rope.

    Skills & Abilities

    • 1-2 years’ experience in customer service and/or cashiering.
    • Prior experience in parking operations, valet services, event operations, or similar field strongly preferred.
    • Must be able to move in a timely manner and work long hours in extreme weather environments.
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
    • Strong organizational skills with extreme attention to detail.
    • Must be 18 years of age or older to apply.
    • High school diploma or equivalency required.
    • Must possess a valid Driver’s License, have a clean motor vehicle record, and be able to pass a pre-employment drug test.

    Physical Demands

    National Western Complex is a multi-purpose indoor and outdoor commercial and agricultural complex where dusty conditions and animals may exist. While performing the duties of this job, work is performed both indoors and outside in all weather conditions, including extreme cold, snow, wind, rain, and on varied surfaces. Our employees must be able to work indoors and outdoors with regular and prolonged exposure to extreme temperatures, must be comfortable working at heights and be able to work around moving machinery and equipment.

    While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. This position is very active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, and climbing all day. The employee must frequently lift or move items over 25 pounds.

    Scheduling Requirements

    While this position will have some set hours, schedules are likely to change on a regular basis based on the needs of upcoming shows. Early mornings, late nights, and weekends are all to be expected. Candidates must have open availability and be willing to work at various hours to complete the primary functions of this role.

    Like almost all NWSS team members, this position will need to be on-site every day during Stock Show, typically for 12-16 hours at a time.

    Compensation & Benefits

    • This is a full-time salaried/exempt position.
    • Compensation for this position to start at $55,000.00 annually.
