  • Summary:

    Manage the daily operations of all Mortgage and Consumer Lending functions, while overseeing and directing all personnel in the Loan department. Ensure adherence to Kahului Federal Credit Union’s (KFCU) quality standards, deadlines, policies and procedures as well as compliance with applicable state and federal regulations. Exercise prudent judgment and decision making in underwriting and analysis of member credit worthiness. Responsible for facilitating prompt, efficient, and accurate preparation of loan documents ensuring quality and timeliness of all loans through funding and disbursement.

    Qualifications:

    • Experience in Consumer loan programs including auto lending, bill consolidation, visa credit cards, HELOC, mortgage, overdraft, personal loans, private education loans, and vacant lot.
    • Knowledgeable in mortgage origination and underwriting practices including income and credit analysis with familiarity of title and escrow requirements.
    • Ability to decipher and interpret financial statements, tax returns and credit documentation.
    • Excellent analytical, problem-solving and abstract reasoning skills complemented by knowledge of credit union operations, process improvement and change impact.
    • Understanding of basic financial concepts and calculations such as simple interest, APR and contractual default provisions, plus a strong knowledge of all collections laws, statutes, policies and procedures.
    • Monitors and evaluates work quality, efficiency and productivity to ensure optimal lending and collection activities and efficiencies are maintained and that Credit Union policies and procedures are followed.
    • Works with loan department staff to identify and leverage cross-selling opportunities.
    • Must be abreast of Federal lending regulations monitoring day-to-day Loan Department activity for compliance.
    • Through regular communication with the Loan team, ensure they are familiar with their roles and responsibilities with regard to State and Federal regulations such as the Bank Secrecy Act, OFAC requirements, Truth in Lending, Equal Credit Opportunity, Home Mortgage Disclosure Act, SAFE Act, Privacy Act, Elder Financial Abuse, Identity theft and all NCUA and CFPB regulations.
    • Must have excellent oral and written communication skills.
    • Time management skills, high attention to details and organization a must.
    • Team leadership experience a plus.
    • Currently commissioned as a Notary Public or the willingness to serve as a Notary Public.
    • Proficiency in Word and Excel with the ability to learn financial industry software
    • Familiarity with 10-key
    • Perform other duties assigned by management.

    Education/Experience:

    College degree in business administration or related field with 2 year’s work experience in a credit union or financial institution; or a combination of education and experience that provides the necessary skills and knowledge to satisfactorily perform the essential job functions.
