Plan A is seeking to add a full time nurse practitioner to our growing team in Georgia. The mobile clinic serves Stewart, Randoph, Clay, Quitman, Webster, and Marion counties. (and in some cases the surrounding areas). The mobile unit is on the road 3 days weekly with the remainder work from home for patient follow up and telehealth.
Our mobile clinic focuses on reproductive health care and OB care - services include family planning, STD testing, HIV testing, PEP, PrEP, Pap smears, pre and post natal care, and primary care screenings. Training will be available for specific skills (LARCs, ultrasounds) as needed.
Project duties will include recording medical histories, performing physical exams, administering diagnostic tests, blood draws, administering medication, and creating care plans. The NP will be working with a remote collaborating physician. The clinic is also staffed with community health workers. The primary role of this NP is reproductive and sexual health - provision of primary care is a plus but not required.
Responsibilities
- Patient intake including medical histories
- Performing physical exams
- Ordering, administering, and analyzing diagnostic tests (STD, HIV)
- Insertion and removal of LARCs (training available as needed)
- Pap smears
- Monitoring and operating medical equipment and inventory
- Diagnosing health issues
- Administering medicine and other treatments
- Consulting with healthcare professionals
- Health education
- Community outreach
- Facilitate health education and conversations with individuals and groups. Candidate should be comfortable speaking to a group of 5-25 people.
- Provide culturally competent health education with compassion, humility, and respects the dignity and autonomy of the person. Deliver care in a way that honors the dignity of each person especially those who have been marginalized, such as people of color, immigrants, and LGBTQI persons.
- In person and telehealth services.
Requirements
- Masters degree from an accredited nursing school
- RN and APN licensure and authorization in Georgia
- The candidate must be a resident of Georgia in the region served.
- Experience providing care as a family or women’s health nurse practitioner
- Trained and experienced in provision of reproductive and sexual health services.
- Prescriptive authorization
- Proficiency with medical instruments and equipment
- Ability to work in and navigate EMR systems in a timely fashion
- We are a small team and the person in this role should have a collaborative spirit willing to help fellow team members to support patients.
- A commitment to reproductive justice, contraceptive equity, and comprehensive sex education.
- Ability to work in close quarters with staff and patients aboard a mobile clinic. Ability to walk up and down stairs into the clinic. Ability to lift 15-20 lb.
- Driver’s license (will be reimbursed for gas and mileage or assigned a company car).
- The candidate must possess a working knowledge of the region and the local community, including familiarity with local history, organizations, agencies, region, and systems. Candidates must be familiar with local population demographics, health care disparities, assets, and needs.
- Flexibility to work evenings (maximum 5 times per month), and weekends (1-2 days per month). On weeks with weekend clinics, team members will be off for a comparable number of hours on a chosen weekday. Schedule is set one month in advance.
- On days when the nurse practitioner is not actively providing in person clinical care, the clinic team works from home or the Columbus office. Home internet reimbursement is included.
