We’re seeking a dynamic and motivated individual to join our team as a Plan Reviewer with Construction Review Services. Construction Review helps people design health- and residential-care facilities that support safe care. You’ll play a pivotal role in ensuring health care facilities meet state and federal standards, promoting excellence in patient care and safety.
Key Responsibilities:

Reviewing and evaluating construction documents and functional programs to verify compliance with applicable State and Federal codes and regulations which includes architectural, fire and life safety, mechanical/electrical, and public health.

Leading pre-design, design, and plan review conferences with owners, architectural firms, professional engineers to identify compliance issues early in the process.

Working with teams to find compliant solutions to difficult design problems.

Work Location & Flexibility
Our approach to work is flexible. You'll primarily work remotely from your home location, but will be required to meet on-site (DOH office in Tumwater, WA) and off-site, with internal and external partners as needed.

What we’re looking for (required qualifications)
Note: Experience defined below may have been gained through paid or unpaid activities. Please ensure any relevant experience defined below is outlined in your cover letter, resume, and/or applicant profile.
Option 1: A bachelor’s degree or higher involving major study in architecture, engineering, or closely allied field; and three (3) years’ experience in reviewing plans or buildings for compliance with construction and code requirements.
OR
Option 2:

Seven (7) or more years’ experience in managing and administering regulatory compliance and/or facility management operations within heath care facilities, to include three (3) or more years’ experience reading and interpreting construction plans.

Certification as an International Code Council (ICC) plan reviewer or equivalent certification* within 18 months of initial hire.
OR
Option 3:
-
Three (3) or more years of demonstrated experience in health care regulation and inspection through service within a program that provides Construction Review Services at the Construction Project Coordinator 2 level or higher, to include three (3) or more years of experience reading and interpreting construction plans.

Certification as an International Code Council (ICC) Plan Reviewer or equivalent certification* within 18 months of initial hire.
Other accepted certifications include, but are not limited to: Certification as an International Code Council (ICC) Building Official; Certification as an International Code Council (ICC) Master Code Official; National Council for Interior Design Qualification certification as an interior designer; Washington State licensure as an architect, Washington State licensure as practicing Engineer.
Desired Qualifications

Licensed architect within the state of Washington or equivalent state. OR Advanced proficiency in health- or residential-care design or regulation.

Successfully and regularly uses spreadsheet software such as Microsoft Excel, to create, modify, print, and format spreadsheets, find and replace data, and work with basic formulas and functions, templates, styles, AutoFormats, and multiple worksheets.

Successfully and regularly uses word processing software, such as Microsoft Word, to create, format, edit, preview, print, and save documents, use standard functions to select, edit, copy, paste, format, and spell check text, and create bulleted and numbered lists, indent and align paragraphs, and use bordering and shading features.

Successfully and regularly uses electronic mail to compose, send, and respond to email, utilizing programs such as Outlook calendar to coordinate schedules and schedule meetings.
