Part Time Transfer Site Attendant

Overview: We are seeking a reliable and customer-oriented Transfer Site Attendant to join our team. As a Transfer Site Attendant, you will be responsible for providing exceptional customer service, handling cash transactions, and maintaining a clean and organized work station environment. This is a paid position with opportunities for growth and development.

Responsibilities:

• Greet customers in a friendly and professional manner
• Perform routine clerical and administrative work in answering phones, receiving the public, providing customer assistance, cashiering, property management, security, and bookkeeping.
• Provide transfer site customers directions to appropriate location; answer questions concerning fees, dumping, hazardous wastes, and other related matters, or refer customers to supervisor, as necessary.
• Monitor vehicles entering the sanitation transfer site, identify contents of vehicle, and calculate the appropriate fee charged for dumping.
• Receive, receipt, and record fees; perform routine posting of records; balance daily cash receipts.
• Open and close transfer site; pick up and deliver monies, mail, and other necessary paperwork to and from City Hall as required.
• Operate a variety of office equipment.
• Perform general custodial and maintenance duties, such as cleaning the office, restrooms, and grounds.

Qualifications:

• Previous experience in customer service is preferred but not required
• Graduation from high school or GED equivalent, and one year of related experience or any equivalent combination of related education and experience
• Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
• Ability to handle cash transactions accurately
• Basic math skills for calculating transfer station measurements and handling money
• Knowledge of computers and modern office practices and procedures; some knowledge of accounting principles and practices
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail
• Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to handle customer inquiries or complaints effectively
