    State Hospital South (SHS) is looking for a part-time, approximately 27 hours per week, Storekeeper working with friendly staff and a rewarding service. State Hospital South was established in 1886 in Blackfoot, Idaho. The hospital is currently licensed by the state to serve 90 adult patients and 29 residents in the Syringa Chalet skilled nursing home. The hospital is accredited by the Joint Commission, which is recognized nationwide as a symbol of quality that reflects an organization’s commitment to meeting established performance standards. Schedule for this opening is: weekday shifts with weekends and holidays off.

    Any applicant offered employment in this position at the Idaho Department of Health and Welfare will be required to complete a criminal history background investigation. Employment is dependent upon satisfactory results of the investigation.

    EXAMPLE OF DUTIES:

    • Selects supply resources and makes emergency purchases within purchasing authority.
    • Obtains specific product or equipment requirements from users.
    • Locates and picks up supplies from local vendors.
    • Purchases supplies to replenish or update inventory.
    • Issues supplies and fills requisitions.
    • Enters and retrieves inventory and purchasing data electronically.
    • Maintains accurate inventory records.
    • Determines proper floor and shelf location for supplies.
    • Ensures hazardous materials are stored safely.
    • Performs physical inventory of warehouse and storage facilities and reconciles records.
    • Receives and unloads freight, verifies quantity and quality of orders.

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

    You must possess all the minimum qualifications below to pass the exam for this position.     • Experience storing, issuing, shipping and receiving materials and supplies. Typically gained by at least 6 months of work experience in a retail or receiving environment.
    • Experience applying purchasing procedures. Typically gained by at least 6 months of work experience with responsibility for obtaining bids and making routine purchases as a regular part of the job.
    • Experience applying inventory control methods. Typically gained by approximately 6 months of experience performing inventory control of material and equipment such as office supplies, furniture, computers and copiers.
    • Experience operating material handling equipment. Typically gained by some experience using material handling equipment such as hand trucks, dollies or pallet jacks on an occasional basis.
    • Experience entering and retrieving data using a computerized records system. Typically gained by approximately 6 months of experience accessing, entering, correcting or changing information on a computer.
    • Requires on-the-job or in-service training that has given some knowledge of safety procedures for handling hazardous material.
    • Physically able to lift and carry material weighing up to approximately 50 pounds with or without reasonable accommodation.
    • A valid driver's license.
