General Statement of Duties Under general supervision, performs duties in connection with ordering, receiving, inspecting, recording, storing, and issuing new, returned, and reclaimed materials, tools, supplies, and equipment in designated areas.
Salvages and reclaims material and supplies. Operates material handling equipment and vehicles; loads, unloads and handles materials and supplies and delivers to designated locations and picks up materials as required.
Typical Duties - Performs all work in a safe manner. Complies with all applicable safety rules, regulations and procedures.
Performs all work that they are qualified and trained to do in a manner to protect themselves, their fellow employees and the public from injury.
Signs freight bills or delivery receipts after determining if materials delivered are correct and undamaged. - Obtains suppliers' packing list from materials delivered and copy of company's purchase order to ensure materials received are correct and complete.
Completes data on material receiving reports. Notifies supplier of over, under, or damaged shipments for the purpose of filing claims or making adjustments to keep accurate records.
Requires knowledge of receiving systems and procedures to complete receiving reports. - Stores all materials safely and properly according to applicable procedures and practices.
Uses bins, racks, baskets, or pallets in designated areas. Affixes Item ID codes to stores materials and marks non-stores materials with necessary identification and disposition.
Issues all types of materials and supplies to authorized personnel. Uses proper forms, fills material requests and completes the forms in accordance with established procedures.
Provides material handling service of loading and hauling of materials to various designated job sites and service centers.
Prepares, loads, and unloads material and supplies. Provides other material handling services. - Returns materials left over from construction or property removed from service.
Originates proper material return forms and stores materials according to procedures and systems at designated storage areas.
Makes judgments and decisions as to the reusability of materials or salvage. - Performs necessary salvage operations of cleaning materials, replaces missing parts of items, and rewinds wire and cable into reusable coils and reels using power operated wire winding machinery and various power and hand tools.
Restocks materials to storage bins or issue points from reserve storage areas. Keeps materials in storage areas properly identified by affixing item ID codes.
Notifies supervisor or leader when materials on hand are low in quantity or a stock-out has occurred. - Operates vehicles, including trucks and material handling equipment.
Assures safe and proficient operation of this equipment, performance of daily maintenance checks as assigned, and proper housekeeping of the machines.
