    Business Resiliency Program Manager

    Let’s do this. Let’s change the world. In this role you will lead the Business Resiliency program for Amgen Ohio. Business Resilience strives to understand, prioritize, and mitigate the potential impact of a business interruption and to enable a rapid response to the event in a manner that promotes life safety, the preservation of company assets, and supports the recovery and resumption of critical business operations as rapidly as possible across all Amgen sites and organizations.

    There are five disciplines at the core of Amgen’s Business Resiliency: Risk Management, Emergency Management, Crisis Management, Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery, all of which build-up the program through the definition of requirements, framework and governance, and provide resources and tools to support functions, regions and locations. This position reports to the Director of Business Performance in Amgen Ohio.

    The main responsibilities of the role include:

    Program Management:

    • Establishing a governance structure around the Business Resiliency program for strategic planning and execution that help assess and understand risks, plan to defend against risks, and ensure a clear path forward for a fast response and recovery from incidents impacting Amgen Ohio operations, in compliance with policy, standards, and procedures.
    • Representing Amgen Ohio at the Operations Business Resiliency Network.
    • Developing overarching plans, checklists, trainings, exercises, and program health metrics.
    • Maintaining a network of working relationships internally and externally with local, state, and federal jurisdictions, utility providers, and critical recovery providers. Liaises with Global Security, Global Business Continuity (BC), Environmental Health, Safety & Sustainability, Site Leadership, Critical Business Units, Integrated Service Providers (ISP), Automation system owners, volunteer staff, and external responders. Coordinates with Information Systems on Disaster Recovery.
    • Providing training to team members to sustain bench strength in key response positions.
    • Facilitating tabletop and full-scale site exercises, and incorporates lessons learned.
    • Developing tools and reports.
    • Extending oversight of the program’s elements to our network of key suppliers and service providers.
    • Continuous improvement.

    Subject Matter Expertise in the following Disciplines:

    Risk Management:

    • Identifies and mitigates risks impacting Amgen Ohio by partnering with groups including site and functional leadership using Amgen’s Operations risk management framework.
    • Maintaining Amgen Ohio’s Risk Portfolio, mitigation plans, and critical issues to Operations Network Risk Assessment as appropriate.
    • Facilitating executive management review of Site risks and mitigations
    • Developing cases for risk-driven projects.
    • Assesses insurance provider recommendations on risk quantification and investigates means to reduce risk.
    • When requested this role will also provide risk management support for capital projects.
    • This position will also use risk as a criterion for the efficient allocation of capital dollars and workforce resources.

    Crisis Management:

    • Working closely with site leadership, functions, and integrated service providers (ISP), this position will coordinate effective crisis management at AOH.
    • This role will support the Amgen Ohio Site Incident Management Team (IMT) as subject matter expert. In the event of an incident, supports site and regional incident management teams and liaisons with global incident support teams to ensure a coordinated response, recovery, and communications.
    • This position will coordinate the development and upkeep of site crisis management plans including roles and responsibilities, communication protocols etc.
    • The candidate will also be accountable for the planning, execution, and after-action report of integrated exercises and real event activations.

    Business Continuity:

    • Working closely with our global and local business process owners and ISPs for the identification of potential business interruptions scenarios
    • This role will lead the management and the upkeep of local business continuity plans for AOH.
    • A key aspect of the business continuity plan would be to maintain a process to assess, repair, and recover buildings, laboratories, and other facilities damaged by natural disasters.

    Basic Qualifications:

    Doctorate degree

    Or

    Master’s degree and 2 years' experience in Risk Management, Crisis Management, Business Continuity or in an operational role with a strong focus on risk management

    Or

    Bachelor’s degree and 4 years’ experience in Risk Management, Crisis Management, Business Continuity or in an operational role with a strong focus on risk management

    Or

    Associate degree and 10 years’ experience in Risk Management, Crisis Management, Business Continuity or in an operational role with a strong focus on risk management

    Or

    High school diploma / GED and 12 years of experience in Risk Management, Crisis Management, Business Continuity, or in an operational role with a strong focus on risk management

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • 4 years’ experience in Biotech, pharmaceutical, device or GXP or in other industries with a strong focus on risk management. Knowledgeable about Manufacturing, Facilities & Engineering, Warehouse and Distribution operations, Laboratory Operations, Quality Assurance.
    • Experience managing programs and/or project portfolios
    • Experience in developing and successfully implementing cross-functional strategic programs across a network of operational sites.
    • Experience with risk management frameworks, processes and tools and experience in using risk as a criterion to make business decisions. Familiarity with risk management software systems.
    • Emergency, Crisis Management, Business Continuity, or IS Disaster Recovery Certification (e.g., DRII Certified business continuity professional).
    • Delivery of emergency, crisis or risk management, disaster recovery, or business continuity programs. Familiar with BIA (Business Impact Assessments) to identify business processes.
    • Leading, planning, and maturing exercises.
    • Ability to deliver emergency, crisis or risk management training such as: Command Team, Incident Management, Medical, Search and Rescue, Hazmat, ATC20-based inspection experience and training. Familiar with OSHA and equivalent training requirements.
    • Experience leading incident response, gathering intel, ensuring action item tracking.
    • Program or project management, business arguments, and analysis.
    • Self-motivated, proactive, independent and adaptable. Flexible to adjust workload based on changing priorities.
    • Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication, presentation & facilitation skills.
    • Able to represent Amgen to external partners.
    • Budget Management: Forecasting, Purchase Order and Invoice approval, managing to budget. Contract negotiation, vendor management or supply chain experience.

    • Continuous Improvement: Operational Excellence, Six Sigma, etc.

    The annual base salary range for this opportunity in the U.S. is $100,919 to $121,626.
