Position Summary:
Mercyhurst University is seeking a dynamic and innovative individual to serve as the Coordinator,
Strategic Initiatives within our Advancement Division. This role will focus on managing regular and
special projects in the office of the Vice President for Advancement and External Relations.
A broad set of assignments are required in the areas of VP representation and communications,
workflow and project management, confidential administrative support, research and report
development, and operations management. The Coordinator is expected to exercise discrete and
independent judgment in the execution of all tasks. A professional presence in the representation of
the VP as well as the department is a requirement for this position.
The Coordinator, Strategic Initiatives supports the VP by assuming responsibility for all administrative
functions of the department. The position manages the VP’s time, calendar, travel, records,
communications, and stakeholder relationships.
The position also supports the VP in setting strategic priorities, helping identify the areas of focus and
identifying and tracking metrics for success. The position acts as a project manager for the office of the
VP, overseeing large, cross-functional, organization-wide projects and initiatives. The position helps to
research, benchmark, analyze data, and make recommendations for operationalizing the VP’s
initiatives.
The position also aids in the development and implementation of multi-channel marketing and
communications strategies aimed at strengthening the University's reputation, fostering relations with
alumni and external entities, promoting fundraising efforts, and crafting compelling narratives to
inspire philanthropic support.
Duties include:

EDUCATION:
Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, Public Relations, or a related field, or an equivalent
combination of education and experience.
KNOWLEDGE/EXPERIENCE:
SKILLS/ABILITIES:
Must be a detail-oriented team player with excellent verbal and written communication skills. Must be
able to interact effectively with diverse populations with a focus on providing support for multiple
people. Must be analytical, well-organized, and self-motivated.
This is a full-time position with a normal work schedule of 37.5 hours per week, typically Monday-
Friday from 08:30-04:30. Additional evening or weekend hours may be required to meet deadlines and
fully engage in the University community.
