Strategic Planning Director directs and oversees an organization's strategic and long-range goal planning function. Drives strategic initiatives and supports the development of long-term growth plans and profitability goals. Being a Strategic Planning Director analyzes emerging industry trends, expansion opportunities, including mergers and acquisitions, competitive threats, the viability of outside business partners, and sources of capital. Establishes and retains relationships with industry analysts and the investment community. Additionally, Strategic Planning Director utilizes data-driven methodologies to analyze business performance metrics and process improvement options effectively. Develops reporting and tools to communicate strategic plans and concepts to leadership. Conducts periodic status reviews of organizational goals and objectives to identify roadblocks to progress. Requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to top management. The Strategic Planning Director manages a departmental sub-function within a broader departmental function. Creates functional strategies and specific objectives for the sub-function and develops budgets/policies/procedures to support the functional infrastructure. To be a Strategic Planning Director typically requires 5+ years of managerial experience. Deep knowledge of the managed sub-function and solid knowledge of the overall departmental function.     About the team:

    The Performance Office is responsible for supporting the planning and execution of FIS’ Future Forward program. This team partners with Operations, Technology and Sales Organizations to execute on specific initiatives that will drive transformation, revenue growth and cost savings opportunities across the company. We are looking for talented individuals who can lead through change and drive transformation at all levels of the company.  

    What you will be doing:

    Manage strategic planning function including planning and developing long-term goals and strategic objectives to ensure business growth and/or improve productivity and profitability.

    • Identifies, researches and evaluates new business opportunities and market initiatives by analyzing complex business problems and issues using data from internal and external sources. Tracks competition and identifies threats or opportunities.
    • Brings expertise or identifies subject matter experts in support of multi-functional efforts to identify, interpret and produce recommendations and business and/or strategic plans based on company and external data analysis.
    • Directs planning and preparation of business proposals and provide data-based strategic direction to identify and address business issues and opportunities.
    • Ensures policies and procedures align with corporate vision.
    • Selects, develops and evaluates personnel ensuring efficient operation of function. Responsible for hiring, firing, performance appraisals and pay review.
     

    What you bring:

    • Bachelor’s degree in business, management, marketing, finance or other related discipline or the equivalent combination of education, training, or work experience.

    • 5 years of strategic planning experience within a matrixed environment

    • Knowledge of banking practices, regulations and operations within assigned line(s) of business
    • Outstanding verbal and written communication skills to technical and non-technical audiences of various levels in the organization, e.g., executive, management, individual contributors
    • Excellent analytical, decision-making, problem-solving, team and time management skills

    • Transformation experience with operations or corporate services
    • Ability to persuade and influence others on the best approach to take
    • Ability to understand and focus on clients needs, establish credibility and build positive, professional relationships with clients
    • Project management skills; ability to prioritize and complete tasks
    • Requires leadership and negotiation skills
