Strategic Planning Director directs and oversees an organization's strategic and long-range goal planning function. Drives strategic initiatives and supports the development of long-term growth plans and profitability goals. Being a Strategic Planning Director analyzes emerging industry trends, expansion opportunities, including mergers and acquisitions, competitive threats, the viability of outside business partners, and sources of capital. Establishes and retains relationships with industry analysts and the investment community. Additionally, Strategic Planning Director utilizes data-driven methodologies to analyze business performance metrics and process improvement options effectively. Develops reporting and tools to communicate strategic plans and concepts to leadership. Conducts periodic status reviews of organizational goals and objectives to identify roadblocks to progress. Requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to top management. The Strategic Planning Director manages a departmental sub-function within a broader departmental function. Creates functional strategies and specific objectives for the sub-function and develops budgets/policies/procedures to support the functional infrastructure. To be a Strategic Planning Director typically requires 5+ years of managerial experience. Deep knowledge of the managed sub-function and solid knowledge of the overall departmental function.     The Director, Strategic Programs will ensure the timely and accurate completion of multiple strategic initiatives occurring simultaneously. The person in this role will be responsible for providing, consulting and cross-functional implementation leadership.

     

    This role will give you a front-row seat in how a Marketing leadership team works. A successful Director, Strategic Programs will ensure timely and accurate completion of multiple strategic initiatives occurring simultaneously. You will be responsible for providing, consulting and cross-functional implementation leadership. If you are adept at hard analytical and soft people skills, and able to adapt to rapidly changing business needs, then this job can provide a great deal of personal satisfaction. Strengths in business process assessment, measurement and re-engineering are key, as is the ability to leverage technology to implement business solutions. This is a "roll up your sleeves" organizational role; the successful candidate is expected to perform all functions from day-to-day project management to leading change initiatives.

    Responsibilities

    • Lead cross-functional, high-impact projects as directed by the CMO and Marketing Executive Team
    • Be the Chief of Staff for the CMO
    • Work with and coordinate across Marketing functional teams
    • Implement, coordinate, and improve Marketing best practices and Vista best practices across all functional areas
    • Manage and complete the successful implementation of strategic initiatives that enable revenue growth and/or accelerate company profitability and efficiency
    • Determine, track, and report metrics that measure the successful implementation of various strategic projects and initiatives
    • Proactively identify issues that could impact the successful execution and leadership in resolving such issues
    • Identify and escalate issues the CMO/Marketing Executive Team should be aware including framing/positioning ideas to resolve the problem and mitigate risk.
    • Be the company representative and the voice of the CMO and Marketing Executive Team with external parties to resolve these issues and mitigate risk (e.g. be the executive lead responsible for de-risking strategic customers at risk
    • Partner with theCMO and Marketing Executive Team as well as Corporate Strategic Programs (CEO Admin) on post-M&A activities to drive acquisition integration
    • Track and maintain Marketing Budget to acceptable variance/compliance levels
    • Marketing Enablement Programs (onboarding, ongoing training, etc. as identified by Leadership team)
    • Coordinate interactions amongst and support to the CMO and Marketing leadership team as needed (e.g. takelead on setting agendas for offsites, coordinating board meeting preparations, coordinate sell side processes etc.

    Qualifications

    To be considered for and to perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty and responsibility satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required.

     

    Qualifications include:

    • 10 years’ experience with a combination of marketing, operations, and strategy roles (or consuylting) or an equivalent field
    • 5 years’ proven track record of effectively interacting with leadership teams and senior management program/project management experience
    • Ability to comfortably dive into any area of the business or product, understand business needs, and facilitate executive decisions based on changing priorities
    • Financial prowess and ability to create budgets, models, etc.
    • Highest level of integrity and management of confidential information
    • Excellent communicator in written and verbal form; able to lead and influence across multiple levels and multiple functions of an organization
    • Proven ability to track, prioritize, and drive multiple concurrent projects to success. This position is expected to utilize data and metrics to communicate needs with the ease of a business unit owner

     A reasonable estimate of the base compensation range for this position is $120,000 – $160,000. The compensation range is specific to the United States and incorporates many factors including but not limited to an applicant’s skills and prior relevant experience and training; licensures, degrees, and certifications; internal equity; internal pay ranges; and market data/range parameters.
