Strategic Planning Director directs and oversees an organization's strategic and long-range goal planning function. Drives strategic initiatives and supports the development of long-term growth plans and profitability goals. Being a Strategic Planning Director analyzes emerging industry trends, expansion opportunities, including mergers and acquisitions, competitive threats, the viability of outside business partners, and sources of capital. Establishes and retains relationships with industry analysts and the investment community. Additionally, Strategic Planning Director utilizes data-driven methodologies to analyze business performance metrics and process improvement options effectively. Develops reporting and tools to communicate strategic plans and concepts to leadership. Conducts periodic status reviews of organizational goals and objectives to identify roadblocks to progress. Requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to top management. The Strategic Planning Director manages a departmental sub-function within a broader departmental function. Creates functional strategies and specific objectives for the sub-function and develops budgets/policies/procedures to support the functional infrastructure. To be a Strategic Planning Director typically requires 5+ years of managerial experience. Deep knowledge of the managed sub-function and solid knowledge of the overall departmental function.     The Director of Strategic Sourcing plays a pivotal role in advancing the university's procurement strategies, aiming to enhance financial and operational efficiencies through strategic sourcing, purchasing, and supply chain management. This leadership position is tasked with driving cost savings, innovation, and best practices in procurement processes, while ensuring adherence to university policies and regulatory standards.

    Minimum Qualifications:

    • Bachelor's degree in business administration, Supply Chain Management, or related disciplines. A Master’s degree is preferred.
    • A minimum of 7-10 years of strategic sourcing or procurement experience, with at least 5 years in a leadership capacity.
    • Prior experience within higher education or complex organizational settings. Proven track record in contract negotiations and supplier relationship management.
    • In-depth knowledge of procurement laws, regulations, and best practices.
    • Exceptional analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
    • Demonstrated leadership skills with the capacity to mentor and develop a team.
    • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, capable of effective collaboration across departmental lines.
    • Proficient in the use of procurement software and technology. 
    • An active Christian Faith is required. 

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • Professional certifications in supply chain management (e.g., CPSM or CSCP).
    • Familiarity with supplier diversity and sustainability in procurement practices.
    • Experience with Oracle Cloud, Jaggaer Contract Management and Power BI. 

    Applicants must currently be authorized to work in the United States on a Full-Time basis. 

    What You Will Do

    • Formulate and execute strategic sourcing strategies that align with the university's overarching goals and objectives.
    • Lead and oversee the strategic sourcing function, including staff management, to foster efficiency, cost reductions, and adherence to procurement best practices.
    • Negotiate contracts and maintain robust relationships with suppliers to secure cost-effective deals and high-quality services.
    • Perform market analysis to identify trends, risks, and opportunities within the procurement domain.
    • Work closely with various university stakeholders to ascertain sourcing needs, product specifications, and service standards.
    • Collaborate cross-functionally to align sourcing strategies with organizational goals, leveraging technology to enhance inter-departmental communication and decision-making.
    • Establish and monitor procurement Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), reporting on metrics such as cost savings, supplier performance, and process improvements.
    • Ensure procurement activities comply with relevant laws, regulations, and university policies.
    • Oversee continuous improvement of the sourcing function, mentoring team members and fostering a culture of innovation and agility.
    • Develop and implement procurement training programs for both internal staff and university personnel. Drive supplier business reviews with key suppliers and stakeholders aimed at continuous improvement in cost and service.
    • Provide Sourcing project management skills and processes, leadership and facilitation where required with key stakeholders.
    • Manage a strategic sourcing team driven to serve needs of the Baylor community.
    • Perform all other duties as assigned to support Baylor’s mission
    • Ability to comply with University policies
    • Maintain regular and punctual attendance
