Strategic Planning Manager manages the analytical and research activities supporting an organization's strategic, short-term, and long-range goal planning function. Oversees data collection and conducts organizational reviews to identify the business's strengths and weaknesses and evaluate operational effectiveness. Being a Strategic Planning Manager leads the research of emerging trends, expansion opportunities, competitive threats, and the viability of outside business partners. Develops recommendations for internal business process improvement. Additionally, Strategic Planning Manager designs and executes methods to track and measure organizational performance data to use for planning. Requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a director. The Strategic Planning Manager manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets. Has full authority for personnel actions. To be a Strategic Planning Manager typically requires 5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. 1 - 3 years supervisory experience may be required.     The Strategic Planning Program Mgr is a key member of the strategic planning team within the Strategy department. This role assists in managing and coordinating planning activities across the organization. The position will be responsible for working with department and division leaders to establish strategic and operating plans, monitor performance metrics and set goals. The position will also assist with developing the organizational strategic plan and will provide support to strategic projects. The Strategic Planning Program Mgr, will be part of a dynamic, collaborative team and will report to the Strategic Planning Director.

     

    The Strategic Planning Program Manager will work collaboratively with leaders and teams across the organization. The role will execute autonomously while also keeping leaders informed and updated. The position is responsible for understanding strategic data and external trends. The role is a crucial component of a supportive team and works cohesively with other members of the Strategy group.

    Responsibilities

    • Provides guidance to senior management in developing the organizational strategic plan and cascading division and department plans.
    • Supports the development of new programs, opportunities, and strategic solutions for Fred Hutch mission-critical projects by providing analytic and project support.  
    • Assists with the annual strategic plan updates and major over-haul every three years.
    • Has deep analytic understanding of external trends and internal data needed to inform the strategic planning process.
    • Facilitate development of annual operating plans in collaboration with key stakeholders
    • Support and assist with the development and update of division and department strategic plans, integrate division and department strategic efforts, cascade and align plans across business units.
    • Provide a spectrum of strategic analysis ranging from market share and competitor analysis to quality and research trends.
    • Utilize internal and external data, and modeling to identify trends and inform organizational and strategic insights.
    • Assist in process to monitor implementation of operating plan and strategic initiatives.
    • In collaboration with Strategy leadership, identifies projects and efforts requiring additional strategic support and consultation.
    • Prepares presentations and communications for oversight committees and executive leaders.
    • Develop business plans for select strategic initiatives and enhancement of existing services.
    • Utilize corporate data as well as Strategy planning data and software tools to develop and prepare analytical documents and presentations.
    • Other duties as assigned.

    Qualifications

    Required:

    • Bachelor’s degree in business-related discipline required, preferably in healthcare administration or business
    • Minimum of 5 years experience working in planning or a similar role in a large multi-disciplinary hospital, consulting firm, or related organization
    • Ability to utilize data to develop plans that drive strategy
    • Excellent communication skills
    • Ability to establish open, respectful, and collaborative relationships
    • Solid knowledge of healthcare industry standards, and business drivers
    • Capable of timely accomplishment of objectives
    • Strong analytical, financial, writing and oral presentation skills
    • Ability to analyze data and trends and work with data in numerous software systems
    • Excellent project management skills

    Preferred:

    • Master’s degree preferred

    The annual base salary range for this position is from $120,868.80 to $191,027.20 and pay offered will be based on experience and qualifications.
