What we are looking for in an Aerogel Technician

As an aerogel technician, you will be part of AeroShield’s production team and will be making and characterizing our transparent aerogels, as well as maintaining and documenting production processes. As the ideal candidate you have experience working in a hands-on setting and have an unwavering commitment to safety. You thrive in fast-paced environments where the results of your work play an important role in advancing new technologies to market.

Responsibilities of this position include:

• Perform a range of lab and manufacturing activities, including making production aerogels, operating pilot manufacturing equipment, and performing various measurements of produced materials (training provided on all processes)
• Practice safe use of chemicals and high-pressure equipment
• Run standard QA/QC testing on finished aerogels such as optical testing imaging, thermal conductivity, thickness, weight, and density
• Collect, organize, and document results using AeroShield’s standard documentation platforms and practices
• Perform routine maintenance and cleaning of lab equipment
• Assist with inventory management and organization of production supplies

Qualifications

• NO prior experience with aerogels required: training will be provided
• Associate’s degree or higher, ideally in a tech-related field or high school diploma with additional relevant work experience
• Some hands-on experience in a laboratory and/or manufacturing environment
• Ability to pay close attention to detail, focusing on accuracy and quality
• Strong interpersonal skills including the ability to listen, distill information, consult, and suggest new approaches
• Able to learn quickly by leveraging all possible resources
• Highly organized
• Works well in teams
• Passionate about AeroShield’s values

Bonus skills:

• Able to perform wet-lab chemical experiments, including working in fume hoods
• Experience working hands-on with machinery such as pumps, compressors, and pressure vessels (training provided)
• Data analysis and statistical tools
