Stripper - Materials sets-up and operates equipment that strips paint from steel drums preparatory to repainting. Requires a high school diploma or its equivalent. Being a Stripper - Materials may have to complete an apprenticeship and/or formal training in area of specialty with at least 4 years of experience in the field or in a related area. Familiar with a variety of the field's concepts, practices, and procedures. Additionally, Stripper - Materials relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Performs a variety of complicated tasks. Directs and leads the work of others. A certain degree of creativity and latitude is required. Typically reports to a supervisor/manager. Responsible for performing hard and carpet floor care and maintenance. Performs such tasks as removal of floor finish from hard floor surfaces, re-coating floor surface with no-slip floor finish, wall washing, damp wiping and damp mopping, carpet shampooing and extracting. Prepare equipment and chemical necessary for completion of daily job assignments) Report any fire or safety hazards, broken equipment or other problems immediately to the supervisor. Maintain a safe working environment. Maintain Housekeeping equipment in a clean and working condition. Services (strips and re-coats or shampoos/extracts) and organizes all rooms in assigned area. Removal/relocation of room contents to facilitate appropriate working conditions. Furnishing to be moved must be relocated.
Perform washing and dusting of ceiling vents, walls, window sills, ledges and lights.
Removal of old/dirty floor finish through appropriate means (rotary floor machine, wet vacuum, scrapers, green pad, etc.). Application of fresh, non-slip floor finish on to prepared hard floor surface. Shampooing or extracting of carpeted surface through appropriate means (rotary floor machine, carpet extractor, etc.) Removal of cubicle curtains and drapes and re-hanging of clean.
Qualifications: Minimum of one to two (1-2) years health care or related housekeeping experience preferred, as well as knowledge and experience in hard floor and carpet care and maintenance. Must be able to do physically strenuous work and remain standing for prolong periods.
