Structural Assembler assembles major aircraft structures and subassemblies such as bulkheads, fuselage panels, rudders, flaps, and stabilizers. Prepares parts for assembly by filing, burring, crimping, framing, drilling, and reaming. Being a Structural Assembler receives detailed written and verbal instructions on all work. Requires a high school diploma. Additionally, Structural Assembler typically reports to a supervisor or manager. The Structural Assembler works under moderate supervision. Purpose of the Position
This position works among a team of individuals working with mechanical products for our customers. The position is responsible for assembling and packaging. As part of our LEAN Manufacturing business strategy, the position is located within a work “cell” assembling a variety of components ranging in complexity throughout the day. Although the location of the position is in Newton, NJ, from time to time it may be required to undertake duties at other Thorlabs locations.

Physical Activities:
The employees must grasp, manipulate, or assemble parts and components that are often very small. As a result, they should have a steady hand and good hand-eye coordination. Work may be sedentary, could stand or sit for long durations and/or perform repetitious work at times. Exerts up to 20 lbs. of force occasionally. Employees may come in contact with but not limited to acetone, epoxy, oops, super glue, Loctite glues, ethanol, and their work cell areas may be noisy at times.
