Structural Engineer - Evansville, IN

We are hiring a Structural Engineer for a Multi-Disciplinary Engineering Team in Evansville, IN! This team provides full-service Consulting and Design/Build services for a variety of projects across the Tri-State area, including: Industrial, Institutional, and Commercial (ie: schools, hospitals). This person will work specifically in the Structural Engineering department with a group of highly-proficient engineers who each possess multiple decades of experience. This team also works closely with teams of drafters and mechanical engineers for their industrial work. Candidates will have a variety of project types available and the ability to advance within the organization.

Job Responsibilities:

• Utilize computer design software for design. This includes knowledge of building construction materials, general connection types used in construction and brace & moment frame design.
• The ability to interpret and apply the structural sections of the building code (i.e. seismic, wind and snow drift loading).
• Design and layout of commercial and industrial building steel systems including foundations.
• Detailed design of steel, concrete, concrete block and other common structural materials for building projects.
• Development of construction document packages based on the project requirements and application. This will include project coordination with other disciplines (mechanical, architectural and electrical), directing drafting personnel and checking project construction documents.
• Review of job specific material specifications.
• Attend client meetings in order to clearly understand job/owner requirements and expectations (project review meetings, construction meetings and project closeout meetings).
• Develop engineering scopes after helping client determine project requirements.
• Project shop drawing and submittal review.
• On-site inspections of structural system installations.
• Conduct on-site surveys to establish and document accurate field conditions.
• Direct drafting personnel to develop project documents and check their work.
• Ability to perform own drafting when necessary (AutoCAD and/or Revit)

Job Requirements: 

• BS in Civil Engineering
• 3 years of specific structural engineering experience- open to industrial, institutional and commercial experience (no residential)
• This individual needs to be able to perform layouts, create drawings, review shop drawings, and answer questions from the GC or subs
• Proficiency to create drawings in AutoCAD or Revit
• Ability to use RISA for both 2D and 3D modeling (open to similar engineering software)
• Must be open to occasionally visit job sites and move around the structure
• Preferred but Not Required – PE License
• Preferred but Not Required – Revit Experience
• Preferred but Not Required – Experience with Design/Build Industrial Projects
