ABOUT THE POSITION

Senior Structural Bridge Engineer | South Burlington, VT | Montpelier, VT

VHB is seeking a Senior Structural Engineer to join the established and growing Structures group in our VT offices. We are a dynamic, vibrant, and innovative team on the cutting edge with model-based bridge design. Responsibilities

Provide training, mentoring and direction for team members in all aspects of design and project development for bridge/transportation structures
• Lead the scoping, design, plan preparation and Contract document preparation for bridge and transportation structure projects
• Prepare proposals and contracts
• Develop trusted client relationships
• Provide independent review and Qc/Qa of plans, specifications, reports, and analyses
• Serve as Project Manager including scheduling and budget

Skills and Attributes

• Extensive knowledge of structural engineering concepts
• Excellent communicator in verbal presentations and technical writing
• Team oriented along with ability to work independently
• Robust technical and critical thinking skills
• Leadership and project management skills
• Motivated to train and mentor staff
• Experience with the use of structural engineering software
• Bentley OpenBridge and OpenRoads experience is a strong plus

Qualifications

• 11 years of professional experience in structural bridge design
• BS in Civil Engineering (structural emphasis preferred) (1 year of experience may be substituted for a master's degree)
• PE license required
• Experience completing transportation studies, final design documents and developing contract plans
• Independent experience developing bridge design and detailing (steel, concrete, prestressed concrete)
