Be part of a project dedicated team delivering a detailed design of a new BP refinery at Kwinana industry precinct. The new refinery will include processing equipment that will convert the existing facility into producing new low carbon fuels of the future.

What you’ll do

We’re looking for a Senior Structural Engineer to join our Perth team.

The role responsibilities include:

• Reporting to the lead structural engineer, you will be supporting structural design of foundation and steelwork support processing equipment, vessels, pipe supports as well as underground concrete works, culverts and general non-processing infrastructure.
• Be the focal point in the general coordination of workshare between various Worley offices for one of the assigned work areas.
• Preform review/detailed checking on work completed on by workshare offices.
• Perform supporting tasks such as:
  • Participate in relevant meetings, prepare progress reports and follow required checking procedures.
  • Ensure the project scope is clear and that changes comply with project change management processes.
  • Provide assistance and advice during procurement, construction and commissioning activities.  For example, write requisitions, conduct technical bid evaluations and write purchase orders.
• Where opportunities arise, support the lead structural engineer on
  • Scope management.
  • Cross disciplinary coordination to ensure successful delivery of Customer’s requirement.
• Proactively resolve any discrepancies between Worley and its BP’s project requirements.
• Communicate effectively with the structural engineering team and project stakeholders, including the Customer.
• Identify issues and problems, develop appropriate solutions, and ask for assistance when required.

What you’ll have

• Bachelor of Civil Engineering or relevant undergraduate degree.
• Extensive experience in structural engineering design in the mining, energy and/or infrastructure sector.
• Previous experience in either heavy industrial or petrochemical plant projects is not  essential but advantageous.
• Familiar with finite element program will be advantageous.
• Familiar with software such as MicroStation and AutoCAD would be beneficial.
• Keen attitude to learn new design tools as well modes project delivery.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Be highly driven with a focus on delivery and service.
• Highly effective technical and practical engineering skills and ability to consistently deliver quality, accurate and timely work to Worley and its customers.
• A sound knowledge of applicable local and international standards and statutory and regulatory requirements.
• Advanced knowledge in using of structural engineering specific software such as StaadPro or Spacegass.
• Exposure to oil and gas facilities is desirable but not required.
• Agile with working in multiple platforms and environment including the use of 365 suite and various other collaboration tools
