    This is a full-time, 12 month position reporting to the Director of Student Activities. The Assistant Director is responsible for developing, implementing and assessing comprehensive educational and social programs at Russell Sage College's Albany campus. The Assistant Director is charged with creating an inclusive student development experience consistent with the Russell Sage College mission. The position requires regularly scheduled evening and weekend hours to effectively serve student needs. This position will be a non-exempt position incorporating flexible time management to allow for a 37.5 hour work week.

    Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

    • As a part of the Student Activities team, collaborate with other Student Life administrators and the wider campus community to provide an inclusive, purposeful and diverse co-curricular experience
    • Ensure that programming connects to the learning experiences of students and is consistent with the RSC strategic plan,
    • Ensure that RSC programs and events recognize the diversity of our student body, are inclusive and welcoming to all students
    • Deliver weekly/weekend programming and entertainment that keeps students engaged on campus in collaboration with RSC Student Government, Student Centers and campus wide partners
    • Disseminate information to students about upcoming events and activities on a regular basis and through various outlets
    • Maintain social media presence for Student Activities through Instagram, Tik-Tok and other outlets
    • Oversee the operation, staffing, budgeting, and programming of Freddie's student lounge
    • Monitor department budgets and spending, including credit card purchases and reconciliation, for student activities and student center for the Albany campus
    • Develop and implement Commuter support programs and activities
    • Assist in the planning and coordination of Family Weekend events and activities
    • Provide guidance and support for clubs and organizations, particularly in the areas of budget and event planning
    • Serve as an advisor to student clubs and organizations, as needed
    • Assist in the coordination and oversight of student leadership programs and Club Advisor/Leader Training
    • Support the Association of Campus Events (ACE) Activities Chair for the Albany Campus
    • Assist Student Government to plan and execute signature events
    • Collaborate with the Student Success team with the implementation of orientation programming for new undergraduate students, particularly as it relates to student activities and engagement
    • Serve on relevant campus committees and sub-committees and attend regular meetings, as assigned
    • Work with the Director of Student Activities to implement outcomes assessment measures for the office of student activities
    • Meet regularly with the Director of Student Activities and consistently communicate with the Dean of Students in Albany to ensure campus-specific support.
    • Other responsibilities as assigned by the Director of Student Activities.

    The estimated wage is $21.54 per hour for 37.5 hours per week for 52 weeks.


    Job Requirements:

    • Bachelor's Degree
    • Two years relevant experience in student activities and/or event planning
    • Flexibility and student-centered perspective as well as a proven ability to work with diverse constituents in a collaborative way.
    • Prior experience working in higher education preferred.
    • Master's Degree preferred.
