Student Activities Director directs and oversees the development and organization of the university/college's extra-curricular programs including special events. Sets up social events and has a participatory role in the Greek system, the student government, and student run clubs. Being a Student Activities Director approves funding for various student activities. Requires a bachelor's degree. Additionally, Student Activities Director typically reports to a head of a unit/department. The Student Activities Director manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets. Has full authority for personnel actions. Extensive knowledge of department processes. To be a Student Activities Director typically requires 5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. 1 to 3 years supervisory experience may be required.   • Basic functions of position:

    The purpose of this position is to engage, lead, develop, support, plan, structure, and carry out activities that will be enjoyable, socially interactive and beneficial for all level of residents at our Skilled Nursing Home for Seniors.

    Primary functions of position:

    • To develop comprehensive activities that engage, encourage and enhance the resident’s quality of life through social interaction with other residents 
    • Plan, design and establish programs that will foster individualization, and social well-being.
    • Research the latest trends and practices for the population served to enhance the quality and effectiveness of the programs offered to residents.
    • Utilize various resources to integrate new methodologies into daily and special event activities- using the internet, periodicals and research materials.
    • Keep abreast of the latest trends in activities and provide new concepts 
    • Increase resident involvement in all activities by encouraging them to be active and build on their social skills.
    • Provide high quality of life events that encompass outside entities to enhance the quality of activities and resident participation.
    • Conduct daily activities with residents
    • Develop a monthly activity calendar with staff to provide a wide variety of engaging activities for residents
    • Attend Care Plan meetings with social workers and families to ensure residents' interests are being addressed
    • Enter MDS required information for residents
    • Any additional tasks required to meet residents' need and  under the supervision of the Facility Administrator
    • Be available to work one weekend every three weeks and one late evening during the week to meet State Regulations

    Educational Requirements:

    High school diploma or GED AND  Certified as an Activities Director or hold an equivalent four- year degree from an accredited university in Recreation Therapy
