    POSITION PURPOSE

    The Associate Director of Student Activities: Greek Life and Student Leadership will work hands on with students to develop their leadership skills through campus involvement in clubs and organizations, including eight nationally recognized Greek Letter Organizations (four fraternities and four sororities).

    Students are highly engaged in co-curricular activities, and the Student Activities Office supports more than 100 registered clubs and organizations. Additionally, we are significantly rebuilding our Greek Life program, and the Associate Director will assist student leaders in providing their members with a strong sense of community, belonging, friendship and inclusion. The Associate Director of Student Activities reports to the Senior Associate Dean of Students and is a part of the Reid Campus Center's management team.

    Responsibilities

    1. Responsible for overall leadership, direction, coordination and legal landscape of Greek Life:
    • Advise the Interfraternity Council (IFC), Panhellenic Council (NPC) and their subcommittees.
    • Hold regular one-on-one meetings with chapter leadership.
    • Support the rebuilding of Greek Life by refocusing Greek Letter Organizations around their chapter values.
    • Offer on-going leadership training for our Greek organizations.
    • Attend Greek Life conferences and workshops on topics such as recruitment, expansion, and policies.
    • Maintain proper records for all Greek Organizations, including but not limited to
      grade checks and sorority and fraternity new member records.
    • Create, maintain, and enforce IFC and NPC policies.
    • Introduce and implement assessment efforts for Greek Life.



    2. Facilitate a self-directed student leadership program, Pathways Leadership Program, by supporting the growth of existing and new programming ideas.

    • Identify programs offered through partner offices that support the learning
      outcomes of the leadership program.
    • Manage student progress in the leadership development program.
    • Offer programs and trainings consistent with the Relational Leadership model.


    3. Support campus-wide diversity, equity, inclusion and anti-racism initiatives.

    4. Support educational work on consent and prevention work on gender-based policy violations.

    5. Assist in the management of student organization budgets and monitor program expenditures.

    6. Assist with the development and implementation of New Student and Family Orientation and Onboarding programs. Lead the planning and programming for Family Orientation (beginning of the fall and Family Weekend (mid-October).

    7. Assist in developing plans, policies, and procedures in the Student Activities Office.

    8. Support event coverage when necessary, including evenings and weekends.

    REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

    Individuals must be able to explain and demonstrate that they possess the knowledge, skills and abilities to safely perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation.
    • Strong knowledge of national Greek organizations and governing councils
    • Knowledge of student development and operation practices and procedures
    • Knowledge of diversity, equity, inclusion and antiracism work and the ability to appropriately and effectively understand and adapt to cultural differences within a group environment
    • Effective oral and written communication and interpersonal skills
    • Attention to detail and excellent time management skills
    • Student/group leadership experience required with student staff supervision experience desirable
    • Ability to work effectively with a diverse community



    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
    • Bachelor's degree required with appropriate documented experience.
    • 3-5 years of Greek Life experience


    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
    • Master's degree in higher education administration, student affairs or related field
    • Membership in a Greek organization
