Responsibilities

• Accountable to assist the RN and surgeon in preparing for surgical procedures, assist in surgical procedures, and prepare for the next case. 
• Handle the instruments, supplies, and equipment necessary during the surgical procedure.
• Understand the procedure being performed and anticipate the needs of the surgeon.
• Have the necessary knowledge and ability to ensure quality patient care during the operative procedure and is constantly on vigil for maintenance of the sterile field. 
• Must be supervised at all times.

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in an accredited Surgical Technology program or eligible to take the CST exam
• Ability to obtain Surgical Technology Certification within 6 months of graduation from CST program
• American heart Association or American Red Cross Basic Life Support certification
