Additionally, Student Union Director typically reports to top management. The Student Union Director typically manages through subordinate managers and professionals in larger groups of moderate complexity. Provides input to strategic decisions that affect the functional area of responsibility. May give input into developing the budget.     Credentials:

    • Master’s Degree in Special Education (required).
    • Proven track record in special education with substantial experience in program development and curriculum writing.
    • Demonstrated leadership and management skills in an educational setting.
    • Expertise in developing, implementing, and overseeing Individual Education Plans (IEPs).

    Responsibilities:

    • Lower School (Grades 1-5):
    • Lead and support the special education team, ensuring the delivery of an effective curriculum that integrates both secular and Judaic studies.
    • Oversee personalized learning goals, creating pathways for students to transition into mainstream programs as appropriate.
    • Facilitate team meetings with educators, guidance counselors, and parents, fostering collaborative relationships.
    • Drive continuous professional development opportunities for staff.
    • Manage, mentor, and develop teaching teams, including those without a special education background.
    • Middle School (Grades 6-8):
    • Supervise Executive Functioning and Subject Support initiatives, assessing and restructuring programs to meet current student needs and expectations.
    • Lead the Mechina program's assessment processes, setting educational goals and tracking progress.
    • Communicate effectively with parents through regular reports and meetings.
    • Develop targeted interventions and act as a liaison between students, parents, and educators.
    • Handle administrative tasks related to external educational resources and compliance with educational standards.
    • Ensure IEP accommodations are effectively implemented in the classroom setting.
    • Act as a resource for parents seeking external educational support such as tutors or academic specialists.
    • Craft a progressive vision for the program’s development from elementary through middle school.
    • Collaborative Duties:
    • Work alongside the Guidance Department to support students with psycho-educational evaluations and mental health resources.
