Responsible for directing all functions including coordinating facility use, administering student services and activities, and ensuring proper safety and security measures. Being a Student Union Director supervises, hires, trains, and evaluates professional and student staff. Requires a bachelor's degree. Additionally, Student Union Director typically reports to top management. The Student Union Director typically manages through subordinate managers and professionals in larger groups of moderate complexity. Provides input to strategic decisions that affect the functional area of responsibility. May give input into developing the budget. ABOUT STUDENT GROUP SERVICES
Student Group Services (SGS) supports student life at the University of Alberta by providing programming and administrative assistance to student-run clubs and organizations on campus. Services in our portfolio include: Student Group Recognition; Student Group Granting Program; Fall and Winter Clubs Fairs; Group Leader Orientation; student group office and storage spaces. SGS also provides general advising services to student group leaders on topics such as recruitment strategies, interpersonal conflicts, constitutions and governing documents.

The Student Group Engagement Lead is a key position focused on fostering a vibrant and inclusive campus community by facilitating meaningful engagement among student groups. This role involves developing strategies to enhance student group participation, promoting collaboration, and creating a sense of belonging within the university. Hours of operations: 9:00AM - 5:00PM, Monday - Friday
Some weekend and evening work might be required, especially for Student Executive Training Sessions facilitation, as well as during preparation for Clubs Fair in September and January.
Location: This work is primarily in person on the University of Alberta campus. Hybrid work may be accommodated; however, not during the first few weeks of each semester.
