Student Union Director directs and oversees all operations of the Student Union in accordance with the university or college's policies and procedures. Responsible for directing all functions including coordinating facility use, administering student services and activities, and ensuring proper safety and security measures. Being a Student Union Director supervises, hires, trains, and evaluates professional and student staff. Requires a bachelor's degree. Additionally, Student Union Director typically reports to top management. The Student Union Director typically manages through subordinate managers and professionals in larger groups of moderate complexity. Provides input to strategic decisions that affect the functional area of responsibility. May give input into developing the budget. Direct the District’s Special Education program to ensure provisions of needed services for special needs students.
Special Knowledge/Skills:
Knowledge of federal and state special education laws/504 law/Gifted law
Understanding of the individual needs of students with identified disabilities
Ability to communicate with all levels of special needs students and their
parents
Ability to implement policy and procedures
Ability to interpret data
Ability to manage budget and personnel
Ability to coordinate district functions
Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
Build a strong team to support students with disabilities that works collaboratively,
communicates effectively, and is committed to the mission of the special education
program.
Supervision of SLP’s, Diagnosticians, Occupational Therapists, Physical Therapist,
and Social Workers.
IEP Knowledge Skills:
Knowledge of specific areas related to Special Education, including the IEP,
REED, SPP Indicators, and Procedural Safeguards
Ensure program compliance with NMPED rule and Federal Law
Ability to involve parents
Knowledge of SPED Timelines
Organiziation of the IEP team to meet the requirements for special needs
students
QUALIFICATIONS:
NMPED Administrators License
Three years of teaching experience in Special Education
SALARY: Per Salary Schedule (12 Month position)
CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
