North Seattle College is looking to hire a Director of Student Retention to support the District's Seattle Promise department.
Salary Range for this position is $82,348.00 to $98,034.00 annually, depending on experience.

Seattle Colleges is seeking an experienced, student-centered professional to lead the Seattle Promise Student Retention office at North Seattle College. This is a full-time, exempt position at the Seattle Colleges that is funded by the Families, Education, Preschool and Promise (FEPP) Levy. This position reports to the Sr. Executive Director of Seattle Promise and will primarily oversee and support the retention and completion components of the Seattle Promise program, specializing in supporting Seattle Promise staff based at North Seattle College (NSC) and facilitating the student re-entry process for students at all three Seattle Colleges.
The Director of Student Retention will supervise Seattle Promise Retention Specialists at NSC and will oversee and the development and implementation of a robust student persistence and retention strategy for Seattle Promise students enrolled at NSC. This position is responsible for maintaining updated information about advising best practices and requirements for all three Seattle Colleges and will partner closely with the Seattle Colleges Advising Directors to ensure college-specific protocol is followed.
This position is expected to work occasionally in the evening as program needs demand and includes regular travel between the three Seattle Colleges. This position is expected to be on campus/on-site four days per week, sometimes five days per week as business needs demand.
This is an exempt, non-represented position.

What you will be working on:
- Oversee the hiring, training, management, support, continued professional development, and evaluation of all Seattle Promise Retention Specialists at North Seattle College to ensure and enhance quality of advising services provided.
- Manage and coordinate Retention Specialist scheduling, availability, and priorities at NSC.
- Serve as a resource for Retention Specialist staff and Seattle Promise students with degree problems or challenges.
- Support the collection and analysis of data related to retention efforts to assess effectiveness, staff capacity, and areas for growth.
- Monitor the tracking of enrolled, transferred, and graduated students.
- Refine and implement a robust student persistence and retention strategy in collaboration with the Sr. Executive Director, Seattle Promise staff, Seattle Colleges staff, and students.
- Oversee the student re-entry process for eligible students at all three Seattle Colleges, including re-entry student communication and support structures.
- Make strategic decisions to increase the number of students successfully utilizing the re-entry option.
- Work closely with NSC student services departments to ensure a smooth transition for students who are no longer Promise-eligible but wish to continue their studies.
- Make strategic decisions to increase the number of Seattle Promise students persisting and completing a degree at Seattle Colleges.
- Collaborate with staff across the district to lead enhancement of academic achievement and retention supports for Seattle Promise students.
- Work with college and district staff to implement and scale best practices related to supporting the academic success of a diverse student population.
- Provide leadership at NSC to plan, coordinate, and execute Readiness Academy and Summer Bridge programs that result in a similar student experience in collaboration with the Sr. Executive Director, other Retention Directors and Promise staff, and other staff and faculty at each college.
- Participate in the development of program priorities as a member of the Seattle Promise team, including but not limited to developing and maintaining programming to build campus and community involvement with Seattle Promise.

What you bring as a candidate: (Any Equivalent Combination of Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, Education and Experience)
- Master’s degree in higher education, student development, psychology, human relations, or related field.
- Strong oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills, including public speaking and writing.
- Experience planning and executing large-scale events.
- Three years of experience or equivalent in secondary or higher education, a college access organization, or related.
- Three years direct supervisory experience of staff.
- One year academic advising experience or equivalent.
- Demonstrated ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks and deadlines while being attentive to detail.
- Demonstrated experience with working effectively with persons from diverse backgrounds, such as racial, ethnic, religious, linguistic, gender, age, sexual orientation, socio-economic, and with diverse physical and learning disabilities.
- Demonstrated knowledge of college retention strategies.
- Proven highly motivated, self-starter, flexible; ability to work in a dynamic environment.
- Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
- Familiarity and proficiency with various technologies, including but not limited to Microsoft Office, student database systems and student success technologies.
- Demonstrated ability to utilize sound professional judgment.
