Student Union Manager jobs in Binghamton, NY

Purpose:

• To act as an extension of management, to ensure quality service and standards to guests.
• To act as a liaison between managers, associates, and student associates. 
• To become informed and familiar with all duties and responsibilities of their dining unit.
• To supervise student associates during work shifts and ensure that guidelines and policies are being adhered to.

General Duties and Responsibilities:

• Report on time for all scheduled shifts in proper uniform.
• Demonstrate knowledge of and complete all timecard procedures.
• Comprehend and enact all standard operational procedures.
• Project a positive and professional attitude toward motivation, morale, communication, and guest service.
• Work mandatory events according to academic schedule (i.e., return to campus early for opening for the fall and spring semesters, Finals Week, Senior Week, etc.)
• Perform opening and opening walk-through duties.
• Inspect student workers’ uniforms, check them in at each shift, and delegate responsibility.
• Conduct pre-service meetings with on-duty supervisors or managers.
• Divide shift responsibilities among student staff.
• Follow cash accountability procedures.
• Work alongside staff members to model safe and efficient operations and performance expectations.    
• Motivate, encourage, and support staff performance through regular hands-on coaching. 
• Other duties as assigned.

Preferred Qualifications and Requirements:

• Familiarity with pre-service checklists for front-of-house operations.
• Experience with the oversight of basic cleanliness, sanitation, food quality, appearance, and friendly service.
• Comprehension of guests’ needs, concerns, and questions and the proper channels of communication to address and rectify issues.
• Hands-on supervisory experience.
• Talent for creating an atmosphere of cooperation and teamwork.
• Willingness to work in various capacities, as assigned by management.
• As academic schedule permits, ability to open and close the unit. This is not limited to various shifts including late nights and weekends.
• A flexible schedule with the ability to work opening and closing, high-volume shifts.
• Must be available to work at least 15 hours a week
• Must work at least 2 closing/dinner shifts
