Subrogation Specialist is responsible for subrogation activities including the identification and research of subrogation claims. Assists in the recovery of overpayments for duplicate coverage, workers' compensation, and no-fault claims. Being a Subrogation Specialist identifies legal liability and pursues, negotiates, and settles subrogation collection. Researches paid claims, answers inquiries, and coordinates with other departments, insurance adjustors, attorneys, and members. Additionally, Subrogation Specialist interacts with policyholders, claimants, witnesses, and underwriters to recommend and document the necessary information to close a file. Collects information needed to determine when an on-site investigation is necessary. Requires a high school diploma or equivalent. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager. The Subrogation Specialist works under moderate supervision. Gaining or has attained full proficiency in a specific area of discipline. Specialists spend 50% or more time on a specialized function such as those mentioned above. May require occasional travel. A district may utilize up to 5% of the total non-Judicial Officer staff allocation in the district for Specialist positions, rounded to the nearest full FTE, excluding the appellate courts.

Supervisor Responsibilities:
Responsible for one's own work product and may provide leadership, guidance, assistance, or mentorship to coworkers, volunteers, or interns. Minimum Education:
Graduation from high school or equivalent and three years of office, legal, or court experience.
OR
Bachelor's degree (B. A.) in business, public or court administration or related field from a four-year college or university and one year of office, legal, or court experience.
Physical Demands:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to walk. The employee frequently is required to stand; sit; reach with hands and arms; and perform repetitive motions with wrists, hands, and fingers; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, and ability to adjust focus.
Work Environment:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts and high precarious places. Occasionally handles emergency or crisis situations; frequently subject to interruptions, and multiple calls and inquiries. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
