Position Summary: The primary purpose of this role is to make recoveries on large loss/special files identified to have subrogation potential, taking advantage of their legal experience to, negotiate, settle and ultimately close files.
Core Technical & Functional Responsibilities:
- Investigate, Negotiate and settle mostly large property damage subrogation claims.
- Identify tortfeasor, review liability analysis, assess damages and pursue appropriate parties.
- Coordinate and oversee the outsourcing of litigation to outside counsel on complex recovery cases.
- Determining origin of loss; retain appropriate vendors, and recommend or assign O&C investigations based on claim facts.

- Review, prepare and monitor insured litigated claims while working in unison with counsel and the client.
- Thorough knowledge of all types of property subrogation claims to include, but not limited to commercial, fire, water, cargo, marine and product liability.
Main Responsibilities/Tasks:
- Navigates through our proprietary database and electronic documents to process and resolve claims.
- Prioritize and appropriately document all activities for recovery.
- Maintain diaries to be current and sets timely and specific diaries on issues of subrogation for follow-up and correspondence.
- Professionally and effectively communicate with insurance company clients, insured parties, responsible parties, attorneys, law enforcement agencies, as well as any entity association with the investigation of a claim.
- Must be able to handle difficult conversations and exhibit conflict management skills.
- Assists internal and external customers with the resolution of moderately complex questions with little or no assistance from management.
- Must be able to handle multiple client workflows and adhere to requirements outlined for each client.
- Must be able to work claims within guidelines of the Best Claims Practices as well all internal company and/or team processes.
- Other duties as assigned.

- Awareness of laws that govern insurance claims by keeping current on critical case laws, statutes and trends in the field of subrogation.

- Responsible for the accuracy and clarity of all documents with high attention to detail.
- Ability to work in multiple computer systems efficiently and understand basic computer programs such as Outlook, Word, Excel, as well as within client or vendor applications.
- Ability to thoroughly evaluate claims for additional subrogation pursuit via arbitration filing; full liability denial, partial liability denial, and disputed damages.
- Ability to work in a positive and cooperative manner with fellow Team Members.
- Customer Service and Communication Skills – Requires professional communication skills with a strong phone presence. Must be able to handle difficult conversations while being persuasive, professional, courteous and respectful.

Required Qualifications:
- Juris Doctorate degree from an accredited law school.
- 5 years of property insurance subrogation claims handling experience.
- Must be able to read, write and clearly speak English language.
- Employment is contingent upon the employee maintaining adequate bandwidth for their home Internet as determined by Latitude's IT department. A wired Internet service provider and a wired workstation network connection is preferred and may be required.
Preferred Qualifications:
- CSRP - Certified Subrogation Recovery Professional Designation.
