While there are other services offered for the rehabilitation of these individuals, we feel that we can give more. We are a small-intimate center located in the Foothills of the Sierra Nevadas offering Detox, Residential, PHP, and IOP treatment options. Our culture is built on a collegial team of experienced and qualified clinicians and staff who are passionate to help others become better version of themselves. This culture is instrumental in assisting others achieve long-term sobriety by offering treatment options that heal the mind, body, and spirit.

    JOB DESCRIPTION:

    The Substance Abuse Counselor/Case Manager is responsible for providing services to clients with a primary diagnosis of Chemical Use Disorders, providing individual, family or group therapy and case management. The counselor/case manager shall cooperate as a team member in the provision of a therapeutic environment that encourages each client’s emotional growth. The position is expected to maintain an acceptable level of productivity as measured by effectiveness and treatment outcomes. The position is located in Auburn / Colfax, California. Some weekend shifts required.


    QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Bachelor's (Preferred)
    • CADC I or II (or equivalent is Required)
    • US work authorization
    • Prefer minimum of two years of counseling experience in a related setting
    • Experience working with military veterans (highly preferred)
    • The ability to develop comprehensive treatment plans and chart accurately
    • Excellent oral and written communication skills
    • Ability to perform duties as a counselor/therapist according to TAP21 “Addiction Counseling Competencies” and “12 Core functions of the AOD Counselor” with respect to screening, assessment, individualized treatment planning, crisis intervention, group and individual counseling, case management, referral, discharge summaries, clinical documentation, and professional ethics.
    • General understanding of American Society of Addiction Medicine (ASAM) levels of service and treatment and the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Health Disorders (DSM-5).
    • Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with subordinate staff, supervisors, utilization review, managed health care clinicians, medical and mental health professionals.
    • Ability to positively interact and develop rapport with clients and their families.
    • Possess current First Aid and CPR certification
    • Current T.B. Clearance


    RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Uphold and enforce the agency’s standards, policies and procedures, client rights, and professional code of ethics and conduct.
    • Demonstrate knowledge of TAP21 Counselor Competencies.
    • Conduct admissions eligibility screening including presenting problem, critical needs of client, and determine if agency is appropriate to meet the individual needs of client.
    • Ability to utilize agency comprehensive assessment tools (biopsychosocial or ASAM).
    • Identify and prioritize individual needs and problems.
    • Provide individual and group therapy sessions utilizing Evidence Based Practices.
    • Provide family group counseling services (if needed).
    • Document client progress toward treatment plan goals and objectives in SOAP progress notes.
    • Develop solid discharge plans and summaries for assigned caseload.
    • Prepare clinical documentation accurately and within time frames.
    • Intervene during crisis intervention situations.
    • Cooperate with health insurance clinical utilization reviews.
    • Participate in treatment team meetings with other team members as needed.
    • Participate in orientation training, staff meetings, and in-service training.
    • Provide accurate assessment and referral when appropriate.
    • Provide appropriate treatment interventions relative to the specific needs of each client.
    • Adhere to code of ethics, legal aspects of clinical practice, professional standards, duty to warn, abuse and neglect reporting policies and procedures.
    • Exercise awareness in cultural competency, client satisfaction, quality of services, client needs, and overall health and safety staff and clients.
    • Additional duties may be required if deemed necessary by administration.
    • This is not a remote position.
