Supply Chain Analyst monitors and expedites the flow of goods, resources, and information required by the supply chain to ensure that critical processes run effectively and achieve organizational goals and performance KPIs. Being a Supply Chain Analyst identifies bottlenecks or problem areas and escalates or proposes solutions. Works with suppliers to resolve issues. Additionally, Supply Chain Analyst may assist in the negotiation of contracts or service arrangements. Requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a manager or head of a unit/department. The Supply Chain Analyst occasionally directed in several aspects of the work. Gaining exposure to some of the complex tasks within the job function.     Job Summary:   

    The CS Food Supply Specialist is responsible for all aspects of food service including purchasing, storage, inventory control, menu planning, menu preparation, as well as coordinating preparation, serving, and documenting all meals for the Child Services programs clients. The position oversees operations of the food services, including hygiene, meal planning and preparation, snacks, record keeping, and all kitchen operations; ensures adherence to nutrition guidelines and all public health regulations regarding food storage and preparation. Also, ensures a proper inventory of client food along with Child Services food including rotating stock to ensure limited waste and expiration.  

    The incumbent will demonstrate excellent organizational skills and be able to make good decisions and judgment calls when needed to complete work along with having excellent time management skills.  The CS Food Supply Specialist will meet regularly with their supervisor to provide updates regarding vendors, discuss the menu items, and submit monthly menus for purchase approval.  

    The CS Food Supply Specialist helps contribute to the overall success of SHC as a valued part of the staff. The Cook/Food and Supply Manager will be able to work well with and coordinate projects with SHC Child Services director, staff, and youth, and continuously look for ways to innovate methods and practices to reduce costs and time whenever reasonably possible. 

    Job Duties & Responsibilities: 

    1. Plans monthly menus implementing USDA nutrition guidelines. 
    2. Ensures the meals and snacks are planned and prepped following the approved menu plan.
    3. Maintain a minimum of two (2) weeks supply of food available for emergencies and inclement weather planning.
    4. Ensures proper storage and regularly check food conditions for all food items according to prescribed standards to include perishables and non-perishable foods.
    5. Maintains a running inventory and keeps proper records (menu, numbers served per meal, purchased items). 
    6. Ability to forecast supplies needed and rotate stock in a timely manner.
    7. Requisitions foods and supplies for Child Services according to the menu including regularly scheduled shopping trips which may require out-of-town travel.
    8. Verifies cost, quantity, and quality of items received and advises supervisor of any concerns of improper quality/condition of items received 
    9. Maintains a safe and sanitary kitchen, pantry, and storage areas. 
    10. Wash, clean, and sanitize items used for food preparation as required by regulations.
    11. Oversees the use and maintenance of the Shelter kitchen to include all kitchen equipment and appliances and requests repairs or replacements as needed.
    12. Organize and prepare food for organizational special events and meetings.
    13. Develops activities for youth clients including nutrition education, food budget management, and cooking lessons.
    14. When required, assist with direct care of youth and positively interact with the youth while building a good rapport and maintaining all certifications and trainings necessary for direct care staff.
    15. Complies with all applicable health and safety regulations and requirements whether established by management or federal, state, or local laws and/or regulations.
    16. Attends staff meetings and required training for certifications which may require some out-of-town travel. 
    17. Regularly works 40 hours per week, but may work overtime as required, to meet the needs of SHC and its mission.
    18. Provides other services and work duties as needed to meet the needs of the Sacred Heart Center and its ability to carry out its mission.

     

    Minimum Qualifications: 

    1. Education and Experience:  
    • Minimum High School diploma or GED is required
    • Must be at least 21 years of age
    • 2-3 years’ experience cooking for schools, institutional settings, or large crowds required
    • Food planning, inventory, and purchasing experience preferred
    • Ability to obtain and maintain safe food handling certification(s).
    1. Skills & Abilities:
    • Maintain confidentiality at all times. 
    • Computer skills - must possess basic computer skills including the use of Microsoft Word and Outlook with the ability to learn job-specific programs and software.
    • Interpersonal skills - must be able to communicate effectively with supervisor, departmental staff, and youth. 
    • Job Knowledge: possess the necessary skills to complete necessary tasks for cooking and managing a kitchen. 

      

    1. Additional Requirements:
    • Possess a valid South Dakota Driver’s License 
    • Be able to safely operate a motor vehicle.
    • Successfully pass pre-employment Drug Screen
    • Be able to successfully pass a Request to Screen for Child Abuse/Neglect from the Department of Social Services
    • Successfully pass Criminal Background Check.  The following may disqualify any applicant from consideration:

    • Any violations, convictions, or restraints for actions made against children or vulnerable adults.
    • Any false, untrue statements or material omissions in the application and related paperwork or during the selection process.

    • Regular used of various kitchen tools and equipment with regular exposure to shares and heat with the risk of cuts or burns 
    • Regular use of company vehicle to travel to vendors

    • The ability to remain alert to the surroundings and soundly make quick decisions to maintain the safety of staff and clients.
    • Sitting or stand for extended periods up to or exceeding 8 hours per day.
