  • The Director of Supply Chain Operations coordinates purchasing, warehousing, distribution, or financial forecasting services or activities to limit costs and improve accuracy and customer service. This role examines existing procedures or opportunities for streamlining activities to meet product distribution needs. The Director directs the movement, storage, or processing of inventory as well as overseeing procurement and inventory for both headquarters and all off-site locations.

    Essential Functions & Basic Duties

    • Heads the supply chain department by ensuring all subordinates are in line and performing according to the department's mandate.
    • Manages the team by monitoring if they organize and carry out supply chain tasks as assigned.
    • Manages and oversees direct and indirect personnel by way of recruitment, onboarding, training/development, performance management and adherence to the Company’s policies and procedures.
    • Direct team to produce a monthly sales forecast, supply plan, and execute those plans to maintain optimal levels of inventory.
    • Lead the daily operations related to order fulfillment and receiving shipments into inventory.
    • Lead and participate in inventory replenishment, supply planning, and demand forecasting.
    • Participate in or utilize direct reports to attend client calls and provide customer service to clients throughout the process.
    • Manage supplier relationships to maintain productive relationships, achieve cost reductions, and ensure consistent supply.
    • Track KPIs and produce reports relevant to supply chain performance, with the ability to provide recommendations for adjustments, improvements, etc. as needed.
    • Supervise and perform cycle and full physical inventory count procedures.
    • Coordinate and manage the expectations/results of key stakeholders (customer, internal teams, vendors, etc.).
    • Make process improvements throughout the end-to-end supply chain that enables the organization to realize annual goals.
    • Lead work within the manufacturing environment, including master production scheduling and Bill of Material creation, as well as the responsibility for scheduling the transportation of supplies.
    • Develops sources for procuring supplies, services, and equipment by attending demonstrations, contacting vendors; attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies and trade fairs.
    • Decides on the supply and distribution methods by tracking the efficiencies of each delivery mode, e.g. road, air, and road.
    • Manages returns to suppliers for rejected materials by assuring these rejected materials are up to standard through rejection reasons.
    • Manages compliance with occupational health and safety regulations by setting safety checks.
    • Procures quality items by ensuring all purchases are made according to the agreed specifications.
    • Grows the supplier database by creating alliances with distributors.
    • This position may require onsite visits and travel to client worksites with traveling up to 30% of the time.

    Minimum Qualification Requirements

    Education

    Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, Material & Inventory Management, or closely related field.

    Experience

    Minimum of 10 years’ experience within supply chain or logistics that included facilitating order fulfillment, inventory management, shipping/receiving of packages, scheduling transportation of supplies, demand forecasting, warehousing, and/or maintaining relationships with suppliers and customers. A minimum of which must have included at least three (3) years of supervisory experience.

    Certificate(s) and/or License(s)

    • Certified Production & Inventory Management (CPIM)certification preferred.
    • Certified Supply Chain Professional (CSCP) certification preferred.
    • Certified Supply Chain Procurement (SCP) certification preferred.

    Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

    • Experience with Master Data Management, particularly item creation and maintaining accurate item fields.
    • Familiarity with laboratory products and diagnostic testing. Consummate laboratory skills in a fast-paced clinical laboratory environment.
    • Familiarity with ERPs (ideally Oracle NetSuite).
    • Process management and improvement.
    • Ownership of key vendor relationships.
    • Exceptional professionalism with a quality-oriented approach.
    • Uses sound judgement in escalating appropriate issues to manager.
    • Well-developed written and verbal skills. Ability to effectively communicate results with all levels of staff and clients.
    • Ability to lead a team to work to the best of their ability and maintain accuracy of their work.
    • Strong computer skills, especially Microsoft Word, Outlook, and Excel.
    • Impeccable organizational and time management skills.
    • Demonstrated ability to manage and maintain confidential information, documents, etc.‪
    • Ability to work in a fast paced and rapidly changing environment with pressure to meet deadlines.
    • Willingness to be flexible.
    • Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.

    Work is normally performed Monday through Friday during normal business hours, however, may require overtime.
