  • POSITION SUMMARY: 

    The Senior Director, Supply Chain ensures the execution of end-to-end supply chain of our commercial and clinical drug candidates. The most essential duty for the senior director position will be to develop and implement a comprehensive supply chain plan reflecting the increased complexity of Rigel’s needs on the clinical and commercial fronts; constantly evaluate risks arising from externalities and changes in internal needs to buffer against adverse outcomes while balancing the need with fiscal discipline. Be flexible to significantly changing environments and work through details of the entire supply chain to ensure delivery on plans and commitments.

     This position will handle long-term and near-term planning and execution at contract manufacturing, packaging, labeling, shipping and supply chain service providers for active pharmaceutical ingredients, bulk drug substances, and drug products ensuring they are manufactured on time and are available to support on-going clinical and commercial supply requirements, as well as international partnerships. He/she will be responsible for ensuring that the entire supply chain (CMO to clinical site for clinical products; CMO to 3PL for commercial product) is operating in a manner that assures that supplies are available for our patients without interruption.


    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:  

    • Develop a comprehensive supply chain plan outlining expected needs for the near-term to long term. Classify risks that should be monitored or mitigated based on factors appropriate for the identified risk. 
    •  Identify opportunities to streamline the supply chain from a cost and risk reduction perspective.
    • Anticipate and plan for on-going material needs to minimize reactive responses for supplies needed by our end-users. 
    • Develop tools for tracking inventory, cycle times, returns, documentation requirements etc.
    • Assure that excipients, raw materials, consumables and supplies are qualified, ordered and available to support manufacturing.
    • Develop dashboards and reports to provide visibility into status of supplies throughout the supply chain.
    • Responsible for developing and executing project plans and schedules that represent the appropriate level of detail and have accurate resource planning estimates to support development team objectives.
    • Keep management informed of any significant risks to supplying end-user.
    • Lead/Participate-in manufacturing CMO, packagers and storage-distribution center selection and management.
    • Responsible for developing and negotiating proposals, supply agreements, scope of work etc. with CMO’s, depots, clinical packagers and other service providers.
    • Lead the process to develop supply chain budgets. 
    • Own the relationship with Company’s 3PL partners.
    • Liaise with Commercial Operations to develop, implement and support channel strategies for Company’s products.

     

    KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS:  

    • BS in a scientific field or equivalent. 
    • Minimum 15 yrs. experience in Supply Chain and pharmaceutical distribution. 
    • Understanding of The Drug Quality and Security Act (DQSA), specifically Title II of DQSA, the Drug Supply Chain Security Act (DSCSA).
    • Working knowledge of regulations relating to distribution activities (cGMP, GDP).
    • Prior experience with regulatory submissions a plus
    • A track record of successfully managing multiple projects within a cGMP related environment. 
    • Ability to manage timelines and prioritize task execution based on business need. 
    • Excellent organizational, project management, technical, problem solving and communication (written & verbal) skills. 
    • Ability to think both strategically and tactically with exceptional attention to detail.
    • Able to work with a range of technically and culturally diverse people, influencing them to get the job done, and delivering value-added business results that meet high quality requirements within a tight schedule.
