    POSITION SUMMARY: 

    • Provide direct responsibility for planning, coordinating and managing activities for all aspects of the supply chain. Accountability for driving supply chain improvements and efficiencies from product design to customer delivery, including development and execution of sourcing and pricing strategies, identification of inventory reduction opportunities, and improvement of supplier performance and quality.  
    • Develop processes, manage initiatives, and direct activities that support manufacturing, purchasing, materials management, forecasting, scheduling, warehousing, and logistics, continually evaluating supply chain activities ensuring key performance metrics and business requirements are achieved. 
    • Successful cross-functional collaboration with Manufacturing, Engineering and Sales to develop credible demand, supply and inventory plans within budget and demonstrated capacities while proactively communicating supply-demand misalignment, imbalances or performance issues to appropriate stakeholders. 

    REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS: 

    This position reports directly to the Director of Operations.  The Production & Inventory Control Supervisor, Buyer (2), and Logistics Analyst will report directly to this position.  

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES, RESPONSIBILITIES, AND MEASUREMENTS OF PERFORMANCE: 

    • Follow rules and processes as outlined in the Employee Handbook and Safety and Quality Manuals as to conduct and performance standards expected of all employees

    • Establish key supply chain performance metrics and comprehensive reporting which measure all aspects of the supply chain to continually improve processes, drive efficiencies, enhance service levels, and achieve financial targets  
    • Establish and monitor vendor supplier performance metrics, manage VRMA process, engage in supplier development or corrective discussions, as needed to resolve defective material or subpar performance issues and drive corrective initiatives  
    • Maintain in-depth and continuing knowledge of foreign and domestic logistic requirements, material management methodologies, and inventory control practices and provide expertise on supply chain matters at both strategic and tactical levels  
    • Qualification and selection of suppliers, negotiate and manage partnerships to achieve financial targets, operational needs and protection of intellectual property  
    • Develop and execute inventory plans to optimize system parameters and material replenishment strategies to achieve inventory/asset management and material flow goals 
    • Maintain inventory availability by establishing reorder levels, lead times, and ensuring inventory items are in stock and at sufficient levels to handle normal order requirements to avoid service issues with customers. Ensure deficiencies are investigated, and cause is systematically identified to drive corrective efforts 
    • Provide functional alignment during new product development and current product design changes with purchasing, material supply, demand planning, receiving and shipping to meet customer requirements 
    • Ensure all aspects of supply chain meet safety standards, confirm supplier Safety Data Summary forms are available and up-to-date, and provide information to designated Safety personnel to maintain OSHA compliance  
    • Meet pricing strategy, quality requirements, and customer specifications through timely, cost-effective procurement, inventory control, and planning of all operational materials and services  
    • Develop, lead and motivate the supply chain staff to accomplish business objectives by delegating tasks, communicating priorities, and consistently holding employees accountable for desired results and performance expectations. Monitor supply chain activities, progress on initiatives, and overall team performance; provide support and expertise as necessary to achieve functional goals and ensure production needs are met  
    • Demonstrate physical, regular, and punctual attendance and communicate scheduled and unscheduled absences in advance to ensure UEA customer and business demands are met 
    • Follow through on commitments and proactively communicate issues, project status, and other pertinent information to all stakeholders 
    • Maintain professional and collaborative business relationships with suppliers, visitors, customers, and employees at all levels of the organization 
    • Demonstrate good judgment, reasoning and professional conduct in all business interactions 
    • Maintain a professional appearance and demeanor appropriate for the position and situation 
    • Perform other duties as directed by Director of Operations 

    Requirements

     

    REQUIREMENTS: 

    • EDUCATION - Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Operations Management or related discipline is preferred.  
    • EXPERIENCE - Minimum five (5) years’ experience in supply chain and materials management with supervisory responsibilities in a manufacturing or industrial environment required.  Proven negotiation, procurement, inventory and distribution management experience including planning, forecasting and cost analysis expertise is essential. Computer proficiency with Syteline or similar ERP system, Excel and MS Office is required.  
    • SKILLS - Must be analytic, forward thinking and committed to continuous improvement and quality results.  Strong communication and interpersonal skills are essential to work effectively and professionally with suppliers, customers and employees at all levels of the organization.  Comprehensive business literacy, financial ability, negotiation and contract management skills are critical competencies.  The ability to think and operate at both strategic and tactical levels while effectively prioritizing and managing multiple concurrent assignments in addition to meeting quality, time and budgetary constraints is essential.  Must have a demonstrated ability to develop, lead and motivate others to accomplish business objectives. 
    • PHYSICAL - Regularly required to sit, stand, walk, talk, and hear (with mechanical assistance if necessary) sufficiently to understand and comprehend individual one-on-one conversations.  Possess specific vision abilities including near vision, distance vision and ability to adjust focus (with corrective lenses if necessary) and able to lift up to 40 lbs. to perform the requirements of the position.
