    The Material & Supply Chain Manager, located in Gladwin, MI, is a member of the operations staff, responsible to plan, manage, and coordinate all activities related to the sourcing and procurement of necessary materials and supplies needed to meet changing levels of product demand while carrying minimum effective inventory. This position will routinely report on department KPIs along with appropriate analysis and countermeasures where necessary. The qualified individual will continuously drive KPI improvements for inventory turns, inventory accuracy, and cost reductions. The qualified individual will be responsible for monitoring and correcting inventory levels based on SIOP inputs from sales, capacity constraints, Supply Chain lead times and financial targets. The qualified individual will develop an appropriate supply chain strategy to maximize customer satisfaction at the lowest possible cost. Strong collaboration with Sales, Customer Service, Operations, Engineering, Finance and Executive management will be critical to the success of this position.


    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Develops, administers, and is accountable for operating with fiscal operating budget.
    • Leads the supply chain team in executing best practices. Assist in forecasting to plan future orders within the CARR locations.
    • Establishes Key Performance Indicators for measurement, comparison and evaluation of factors affecting supply chain and inventory.
    • Perform supply demand analysis each month and highlight areas of concern for coming months.
    • Negotiates price for raw material and delivery with suppliers, vendors, and shipping companies.
    • Keep detailed records on procurement activities, material quantity and material/supplies specifications.
    • Monitors the performance of Suppliers, assessing their ability to meet quality and delivery requirements; identifies and qualifies new suppliers in collaboration with other departments and corporate leads.
    • Participate and provide updates during Daily GEMBA walk review.
    • Champion VAVE initiatives and establish procurement wins while working with support departments to achieve annual budgeted cost savings targets.
    • Create and run monthly SIOP meetings to capture inputs from all applicable departments regarding future forecast, market trends and customer requirements.
    • Work with Sales, Customer service and Production Planner daily to make delivery commitments based on current schedule load against production capacity.
    • Works with plant, warehouse, and logistics departments to determine and set up intercompany transfers.
    • Analyzes current inventories and procedures; suggests improvements to increase efficiency of supply chain and profitability for the company.
    • Maintain and enhance weekly Cycle Count procedures and processes at CARR locations.
    • Monitor and control inventory at target levels at CARR locations.
    • Oversee annual Year-End Physical Inventory planning at CARR locations.
    • Provide Supervision, leadership, support and mentoring to purchasing, planning and inventory personnel within CARR locations. Develops subordinates and administers human resources programs as they relate to performance and compensation management, utilization of training resources, and the application of company policies and procedures for team members; includes periodic involvement in the hiring of employees.
    • Conduct performance evaluations that are timely and constructive.
    • Actively participate in Continuous Improvement, Lean, 5S and Safety initiatives.
    • Assures compliance with OSHA, ISO and Corporate Safety and Housekeeping requirements and policies as well as Plant Safety Goals.
    • Provides additional support to other departments as needed.
    • May perform other duties as assigned.


    MANAGERIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

    Directly manages members of the operations team including but not limited to purchasing agents and safety coordinator. Carry out responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include working with operations and human resources interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

    • Proven experience as a Material Manager.
    • In-depth knowledge of Purchasing, Supply Chain and Inventory Management systems and controls.
    • Understanding of Forecasting.
    • Understanding of Budgeting.
    • Priority setting and time management skills.
    • Hands on ERP planning systems required.
    • Excellent organizational and leadership skills.
    • Strong verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.
    • Proficient in MS Office.
    • Familiarity with Shipping and Receiving.
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

    EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

    • Bachelor's Degree in engineering, business, or equivalent required.
    • APICS Certification Preferred
    • 7 years’ experience in Materials Management, Supply Chain Management, Inventory Control
    • Proven ability to influence and drive measurable results.
    • Strong leadership skills including the ability to prioritize.
    • Experience in Shipping and Receiving
    • Experience in production planning and scheduling


    COMPUTER SKILLS:

    • Internet based software
    • ERP processing software experience
    • MS Office
    • ADP or other time keeping software
