Surgeon - Burn examines, diagnoses, and surgically treats patients with burns from heat, cold, chemical, or electrical incidents. Performs escharectomy, skin grafting, and secondary burn surgery. Being a Surgeon - Burn reviews patient history and confirms need for surgery. Determines which instruments and method of surgery will be most successful in achieving desired outcome. Additionally, Surgeon - Burn may provide medical personnel with direction concerning patient care. May provide in-service training as needed to address new technology in health care treatment. Provides charting in compliance with all laws and regulations. Requires a MD degree from an accredited school. Typically reports to the chief of surgery. Requires a license to practice.     Job Summary:

    The Surgeon will aid patients at a medical center in Chinle, AZ. Services will be provided in a 60-bed hospital which serves as the health care hub for the region.

    Tour of Duty: 7:00 am to 3:30 pm with a 30-minute lunch break, Monday through Friday. Forty (40) per week. Call-Back Hours and Overtime Hours after 3:30 pm. Weeknight On-Call Hours: 15.5 Hours per night, 3:30 pm to 7:00 am, Monday through Friday. Weekend On-Call Hours: Twenty-four (24) Hours per day.


    Job Classification: Full-Time Contract

    Supervisory Responsibilities: None but serve as a mentor, consultant, and advisor.


    Duties/Responsibilities:

    • Perform general surgery physician duties and manage inpatient and outpatient needs in accordance with the competency standards listed in the facility’s Medical Staff By-Laws.
    • Provide professional medical services or direct patient care services under the terms of the contract by participating in the diagnostic and therapeutic procedures involved in the examination, treatment, and care of the surgical patients (before, during, and after surgery).
    • Serve as staff surgeon and surgical consultant.
    • Obtain consultation with members of the General Surgery staff and other anesthesia staff on matters of patient care when questions arise.
    • Perform major surgical operations such as gastrocolostomy. Will guide, train, and direct surgical team.
    • Will assume responsibility for the diagnosis, prevention therapy, maintenance, and rehabilitation of patients.
    • Review clinical records and adhere to records documentation procedures to ensure records are properly maintained.
    • Make appropriate referrals and coordinate services with other health professionals.
    • Be subject to technical direction and/or guidance of the designated government official.
    • Complete patient documentation using the Electronic Health Record.
    • Other duties as assigned and needed.

    Education and Experience Requirements:

    • Required: Possess 5 (five) years of general surgery residency training with a minimum of 6 (six) months experience in specialty.
    • Required: Possess a Doctor of Medicine or Doctor of Osteopathy degree; candidate must be Board certified or board eligible with the American Board of General Surgery.
    • Required: Proof of hospital privileges if performing outside of normal training parameters of the surgeon’s specialty.
    • Required: Has completed an approved and accredited surgical residency program in the U.S.A.
    • Required: No lapse of practice within 6 months leading up to the assignment.
    • Required: Possess a current, valid, unrestricted, applicable license in a state, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a Territory of the United States, throughout the term of this contract.
    • Required: Current Basic Life Support (BLS), ACLS, ATLS, PALS, and CPR is mandatory for all specialties.
    • Required: Must possess a current, unrestricted DEA license. License verification must be provided at the time of application. No loss of licensure or suspended licensure.
    • Required: Enumerate any lawsuits or board actions.
    • Required: Must submit three (3) professional letters of reference from other healthcare providers familiar with the applicant’s clinical practical skills within the same discipline. One must be from the Chief of Staff/Medical Director or Immediate Supervisor from the hospital where privileges were last held. If recent residency completion, one letter must be from the program director of service chief.
    • Required: Must possess a valid state driver’s license throughout the term of this contract.
    • Required: Must be able to pass a federal background check.
    • License verification, education, and certifications must be provided at the time of application and can be emailed to certification@chloeta.com.

    Physical Requirements:

    • Able to frequently lift at least 50 lbs., reach, pull, push, bend, stoop, and kneel.
    • Prolonged sitting at a desk and working on a computer and standing/walking.
    • At the time of hire, must provide a fitness for duty certificate issued by a licensed physician to perform the proposed job without significant risk to personal health or the health and safety of others. No history of drug abuse, i.e. alcohol, narcotics, etc.
    • At the time of hire, must provide documentation of evidence of immunizations as required by the facility's immunization policy.

    Pre-employment Requirements:

    Drug and Alcohol Testing:

    To enforce Chloeta’s Drug and Alcohol Testing Policy, an employee or candidate could be subject to undergoing a drug screen and/or alcohol testing at the beginning of employment, as well as after commencement of employment where there is reasonable suspicion of intoxication, or following an automobile or other accident, or as part of a company or facility-wide random drug screen process.


    Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA):

    Under the FCRA, Chloeta may request a credit check during the onboarding process. A written authorization form will be required before obtaining credit records.


    Emergency Response:

    Every Chloeta employee has regular and recurring emergency management responsibilities, though not every position requires routine deployment to disaster sites. All positions are subject to recall around the clock for emergency management operations, which may require irregular work hours, work at locations other than the official Duty Station, and may include duties other than those specified in the employee's official Position Description (PD). Travel requirements in support of emergency operations may be extensive in nature (weeks to months), with little advance notice, and may require employees to relocate to emergency sites with physically austere and operationally challenging conditions.
